Not disappointed, but not ecstatic.
During my kitchen makeover (which is still in progress) I ended up with some damage to my very good and expensive WilsonArt laminate when I removed the 4" laminate backsplash. In addition, I relocated the sink, which left a huge hole in one part of the countertop. I'm not ready to replace the countertop, since for the most part it is in perfectly good shape and there's no need to throw it in a landfill, so I decided to give this product a try. I filled the old sink hole as best I could and set to work with the paint kit one weekend while my husband was out of town.I was expecting to have this done in a day. Friday I filled in the sink hole and repaired any other damaged areas. I cleaned and sanded it, and that night I primed it. The next morning I got up and got to work. I did have a lot of countertop to cover, but it is a very time consuming process with the sponging. In hindsight, I would have said f-that and gone over the whole surface with the white, and then sponged on the other colors, including some black. I ended up mixing some custom colors to have five colors in my countertop: white, black, gray (white + black, obviously), gold, and a golden brown (gold + black). This gave more depth and interest than just three colors would do. My attempts at cracks did not go too well, as a couple of them smeared and I could not get them to blot or cover up with white. The plastic bag technique may have worked for this better (I used the artists brush). Really, that is the only thing I am unhappy about, and since I have some paint left I might try again to cover them in the future. The clear coat is holding up well so far. So, from my experience, here are my recommendations and tips:1. Remove your sink and pull out your stove and refrigerator. You'll get a better pattern where the countertop meets these items, plus you can seal the edge better.2. Save yourself time and headache and paint the countertop white and work up from there with adding the colors and textures. Also, do as I did and mix some colors so you can get a more realistic gradient pattern. I applied them in multiple ways: damp sponge, dry sponge, poured on then patted with the sponge, and spritzed on with a spray bottle (mixed with water) then patted with a sponge.3. Don't cut the sponge in half if you have small hands. It makes it a pain to handle, and if you're clumsy with the sponge it shows. Cut it to fit your hand, with different sizes. I had two pieces of sponge per color. Also, when cutting the sponge aim to cut through any big holes, otherwise you just end up having to keep trying to avoid them as you are using the sponge.4. After you paint and are sanding between your top coat layers, DO NOT sand in the area of any seams or repairs. I made that mistake and my seam is now visible again (it was not after painting)5. Give yourself plenty of time to do this project. Partially because, like me, you may want to go over it quite a few times before you are satisfied. I certainly could have finished in a day, but I think my pattern came out much better because of it.6. If you have a white sink, backsplash, appliances, etc, don't count on it matching, and be prepared for getting used to any contrast. My sink is white, but apparently the paint is much much whiter, so now my sink looks sort of dingy. Had I known, I would have put a smidge of gold in the white to warm it up. The white in this paint leans more toward the blue (cool) side of the white spectrum.Next up will be my cabinets and I can't wait. I don't think white countertops look very good with oak, and if I weren't planning to paint the countertops I would have used a different set, or since I had to buy two sets I would have mixed two different kits if I did it over.Would I use this product again? I'm not sure. I might try to roll on stone next time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product!
Reviewed in the United States on October 20, 2017
so far I am very satisfied with this product. I believe it is very easy to use. I don't know my kitchens exact square footage but I think it's pretty normal sized. This one kit was plenty for me. I used about 80% of the black primer, all of the pearl, had just enough of it. And still had a half can of the white left. I used the entire can of top coat. The primer was a quick application. I let it dry an entire day. It took me about 5 hours for the sponging part of this project. I was exhausted but just turn on some music and get in the groove. I believe anytime you don't like how it is turning out just add more white! I feel like this is pretty easy. Anyone could do it. I don't really understand the reviewers who said they couldn't get good results and that a drunk cat did it, you just have to be patient with it. My kit DID NOT come with a DVD like some reviewers stated. I watched videos on giani's website that were very helpful. I would advise on buying some paint trays that arent included in the kit, and a pack of paper plates. I did the veining technique but not without practice on the sheet they gave you. I did my practice sheet my first day of applying base and it made me very confident for the next days sponging. This product is very customizable to whatever you want. I DID NOT USE ANY OF THE GOLD. Do not feel like you have to use it just because it come with the kit. I did not want any warm colors in my kitchen and I wanted this to look like marble slate so I used zero gold. I think it's a nice touch if you're going for that look but I was not. I did freak out when I put the top coat on because it came out very potent baby blue color. It did dry completely clear though although I do see some reviewers blue hue did not go away. I contacted Giani about this issue and they advised me that if you leave too much black coming through it can be blue. I did get some extra fine silver glitter to sprinkle into my counter tops. It added a great touch. I feel like my counter tops are very vivid and bright. I did purchase the Giani counter top cleaner because I would love to get many, many years out of this paint. I am consernded with how long it will hold up but I think I'd rather baby my counter tops and spend $80 rather than spend thousands. I used all my clear coat which ended up being 3 coats. I will update this review with time with updates on how the counter tops hold up

Loved the product and enjoyed using it. I watched the video first which was a great help. If you follow the steps given its extremely easy to use. I'm surprised at how good the end finish looks. My only slight disappointment is the final glitter coat. I thought there'd be more sparkle.

I am really impressed with this product! I want to invest in stone countertops eventually but this turned out so well that I can hold off for a few more years. It was really easy to use and the directions were really clear. The most difficult part of this project was removing the old caulking from around the sink. I followed the directions to a T and in total it took 1 weekend to get this completed. I can't speak to the durability factor just yet but the top coat adds a nice sheen and it went on completly smooth. Overall I am very happy.

The first picture is a before. Last year I layed feathering concrete over an ancient countertop that was made of (cracked) tiles that were uneven. After painting it and protecting with polyurethane it looked like the first pic, which was a massive improvement. But it didn't look very real and it yellowed and stained within the year. So I sanded it and used the Giani kit to get the new look. I should have probably made it lighter, but I felt it was looking pretty realistic when I added some veins with a small brush, so I left it at that. I'm really pleased with the result and am considering making it more durable by adding an epoxy layer when it is fully cured.
It is also very forgiving, since I never managed to get the feathering concrete a hundred percent flat, having put it over a surface that was very uneven to begin with. Now it looks pretty flat.
So full marks for this kit, I recommend it.
