    This was a great introduction to sewing for the little crafter in the family. Up until this point she has been making characters out of paper and stuffing them. Now she can try felt, and later we can work up to fabric so she can make her own stuffed animals. This was a great first step to get her used to the tools and techniques used. Definitely recommend for the little crafter in the family. She’s so proud of the stuffed animals she made with this kit.

    My 12-year old's review: "This kit is great! I loved the seal the most and was so excited to make it, and although I did have struggles, I managed with help! It comes with a book like the Sew Mini Treats and is descriptive. It has a cute image for each animal pattern and has stencils for making the perfect shape :). This was practically my first attempt at sewing, so it's no wonder it was a little difficult. I think Klutz is a great brand, and I enjoy their kits a lot! I made a lot of the animals, and they are great for gifts! Once you get the hang of sewing, it's very simple. It has the basics included in the book, even though I still needed to look back into the book or ask someone how to do it, it is informative. If you look at the instructions, use the stencils, pre-cut eyes and cheeks you CAN make it look like theirs! Most products have impossible covers and misleading pictures to make you think like you can make it that good, but that's not the case with this one! The Sew Mini Treats is a great kit to and if you like this kit I'd highly recommend also buying that! It comes with a book and stencils, just a different pattern, stencils and felt. Also, if you don't make all of the animals, there will be some pre-cut eyes and cheeks left, so you can use it when you get the hang of sewing, and want to make your own project! I think it is a very good gift and not to expensive for the quality! Highly recommend this and Sew Mini Treats!😊"

    I decided to do something different this year for my kids' stocking stuffers at Christmas and make some myself. The only sewing I knew how to do going into this was how to put a button on. I figured this booklet was likely easy/for beginners and I was definitely wrong.

    Here are my thoughts:

    1) While the patterns and directions are easy to follow per say, working on a miniature animal requires someone more skilled because there is not as much material to work with.
    2) I do not think they provided enough of each color felt OR string. If you messed up at all, there wouldn't be enough left to finish the other animals.
    3) I do think this experience helped me increase my sewing skills. I did 12 mini-animals total. The first half were disasters, but as I worked through the book, I was able to put in better details. The sloth in the picture is the second one I made. The alpaca pictured was one of the last!
    4) The string was hard to separate and the instructions didn't say to do so. If you leave the string as thick as it comes, you will run out mid-project.

    Overall, was a hard project for me, BUT I really am happy I took the time to make something for my kids. If it came with more product to work with, it would have been even better!
