Unicook Pizza Stone PASS Sensory Test from SGS

unicook pizza stone pass Sensory Test from SGS-PASS

1. Why Unicook pizza stone is more durable and safe?

Made of natural cordierite, molded under 400 Tons of pressure, and PASSED the Chemical Test from the third-party lab SGS, is safe to bake delicious food.

2. Why does Unicook pizza stone bake a crispy pizza?

Unique porous structure and multiple micro-pores absorb excess moisture from pizza dough, helping to distribute heat evenly and create crisp crusts.

3. Will the oven stone smell or smoke?

NO. This stone is made of natural cordierite and sintered at over 2100°F for hours. The stone will not smell when it comes out of the box or under normal use.

However, if the stone absorbs fat, oil or chemical cleaner, it may create smoke and odors when baked at high temperatures. For this case, suggest cleaning it with baking soda paste and running the self-cleaning cycle in your oven, or burn the stone directly with flame outdoors until the odors are eliminated.

Well made, well packed, over 1/2 inch thick and very solid. I have this same stone at another location and it works great for both pizza and calzones - just get it hot enough for long enough.Pizza baking requires preheating for 500 degrees for 30 minutes per the manufacturer instructions. I bake calzones at 375 degrees. One obvious tip. These stones are VERY fragile - use care when handling!I wanted this stone specifically for my Wolf countertop oven and occasional use on my gas grill.Wolf does not make a pizza stone for their countertop oven - that’s irritating. I measured the inside of the Wolf oven prior to ordering and this stone was very close to a perfect fit. When the stone arrived, it was a bit too wide. So I took a shot and narrowed it down a bit with a 4 1/2 inch angle grinder using 40 and 60 grit flap sanding disks (see photo). The corderite material in this stone is harder than the aluminum oxide abrasive on the disks so it took 4 disks. My alterations worked perfectly for my need. See the photo of the stone just after trimming and the other photo of the stone in the Wolf oven and look towards the back - you can see where the notches make it fit around the frame.Overall, I trimmed the stone width about 1/4 inch and notched the back of the stone another 1/4 inch on each side to fit around the steel rack frame in the oven.NONE of these modifications are recommended or encouraged, the manufacturer is probably getting stomach pains reading this review and if you ruin your stone trying to make it fit, that was your choice.I’m just saying it can be done - with the right tools, some patience and a willingness to risk destroying the stone.I’m happy with the outcome & this stone will improve the versatility of my Wolf countertop oven. Hope that helps!

5.0 out of 5 stars If you wanna be the Craft Pizza King….!
Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2021
Athen consider this stone! Why? Great value, thick, just the right size, durable blah blah blah….

I reviewed several other brands along with this one and I always started with the one star reviews Anton review the middle of the road then the 5’s. To my surprise the number of permutations of what people write is insane. I’ve read that “this smells”, cracked when hot hot, and even a warped stone! The list is endless. Now let’s chat about what I really like about this stone. Well besides that it makes a fantastic pizza but the chef has to ensure a few things. I have a 6 burner gas grill that throws BTUs down range like a marksman with endless ammo on automatic. I put the burners on low directly underneath, near the sides I put up about half way and on the ends on full blast. What this does is gets the the stone heated to 500 deg. This Pushes hot air on top of the pizza with the grill on idle if at 600-650 inside temp purring like a pizza Kat! You will soon develop your own methodology. I am considering getting another stone as when you have friends over I quickly learned you need to pump these pizzas out quicker.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good crust, no odor, but dough stuck
Reviewed in the United States on November 29, 2020
I was concerned about this stone at first because some reviewers complained that there was chemical smell emanating from the heated stone, but there was absolutely no smell at all, perfectly fine. I had preheated the oven  to 500F for 30 mins, then sprinkled some flour on the stone as recommended in the instructions to prevent the dough from sticking, then put the pizza on and baked it for 20 mins. The pizza smelled great, the crust was deliciously crunchy, only problem was that the dough stuck to the stone and I had to scrape it off, ruining most of the crust in the process. The instructions say that you can't season the pizza stone with oil (or use dish soap to clean it), so I had just washed it off with clear water before hand. I guess I'll try covering it with a thicker layer of flour next time before placing the pizza dough on the preheated stone. By the way, the material the pizza stone is made of isn't what  you'd typically imaging by "stone" (I had thought it was smooth, more like a granite kitchen counter top), but it actually is some weird kind of ceramic with a strange feel to it, almost like some construction site material, very porous to the touch, and must be handled it with extreme care to avoid bumping it or I'm sure it'll crack. I'll give it another try with a thicker layer of flour next time, that might fix the dough sticking issue I had, otherwise I like it!
