TIPS: Read the instructions a couple times first, just to be clear about how it goes. Do follow the blue guidelines for where to glue the paper, or you risk running out of the correct color. Notice that the paper is colored on both sides, to accommodate all of the design possibilities. Keep in mind that you can only create three of the designs included, one of each shape. The robot got the most compliments of our three. Have extra glue on hand before you start, because the amount provided only lasted me half of the three piñatas and I think I was being rather efficient (we supplemented with extra strong Elmer's school glue, but it seemed like regular would be fine). Definitely use glue for the paper and flat features, but we used clear tape for some of the 3D features (panda's ears) because gluing them was a bit complicated, and it looked fine with tape. Use an opened paperclip bent into a curved "needle" shape to thread the string at the end, the cardboard ones provided were not successful.
Although the kit isn't perfect, it's a great start if you've never made a piñata before, and it was fun to bust them open even though they were small. When they opened up, the candy came from the "cereal box" tab opening itself, so the piñata didnt actually get destroyed at all, and my son has them now on his dresser for decorations. I was inspired to try my own design maybe for next year!

We started first with the emoji piñata. My son was able to push out all the pre-cut bases and accessories. From there I took over assembling the piñata. They make it really easy, numbering each fold on the top and bottom. Then you match the number on the top or bottom to the numbers on the side pieces and tape each spot. I did this because I didn't trust my son could tape it all together without crushing it. Also it's a good idea to thread your ribbon for hanging through before taping it closed. The paper for the project comes with dotted lines so you know where to cut it into strips for your fringe. Then you cut the fringe into those strips. My son was able to follow the dotted lines to cut the strips. Although they weren't perfectly straight. Good thing for this project it doesn't matter. I cut the fringe, because every time he tried he'd cut too high. My son lost some patience with gluing down the strips. So I finished that while he picked out from his Halloween candy what he wanted to put in the piñata. He finished off gluing on the emoji face. I would suggest you thred the ribbon through the holes before taping your piñata shut. Because it was difficult to get through afterwards. I used a crochet needle. Also the hole to stick in the candy is small. I think most people will be using this as a decorative piñata. Which we are, my son has it hanging on the door knob. But ours still has the candy he wanted in it. He has asked a few times to smash it but when I've explained once he smashes it that's it's gone he is no longer interested in that idea.
My son is ready to do the robot piñata. But I said we need to save that for tomorrow. If he was older and could do more of the project on his own, he could probably do all three in one afternoon. Based on how excited and how much enjoyment my son got out of making the piñata I would recommend this craft. It can be time consuming if they are younger and expect them to need some assistance at some points. But fir the most part they really thought off all the details to make this craft easy for kids to do.

This kit is recommended for ages 6 and up. Most will need some help, at least getting started. There is a book of instructions and has more ideas than there are supplies to make. There are 3 fold up boxes as well as 62 punch out pieces. Glue is included. The box says that the glue and ribbon are manufactured in China and that all other parts are made in Korea.
