Thoroughly entertaining, well-rounded characters and interesting plot. You see everything from one of the main character's point of view and it never fails to depict her true state of mind and perception of people and events. What I mean to say is: it's really well-written and the attention to detail is amazing.

I feel the need to point out, though, that there's considerably more angst than expected after reading the blurb. Content warning / sensitive topics: the book tackles heavy homophobia and alzheimer's disease.

When I got KU and into Goodreads this year, I was exposed to a lot of Lesfic books for the first time. Truth be told, I didn’t even know what that meant before this year. I didn’t know what to expect except maybe some f/f sex scenes. Instead, the reality is that I’ve read some amazing writing that just happens to be female driven. I just shake my head because a book like Who’d of Thought is incredible and I wonder why doesn’t everyone know about this book and others like it.

The story centers on a young nurse who answers an ad and agrees to “marry” a wealthy neurosurgeon in her 40’s whose motive is unknown. The mystery unfolds slowly and meanwhile we learn about the two women, Hayden and Samantha, their family and friends. Of course, things heat up between them unexpectedly and it’s perfect. No extra drama, no unnecessary explanations, just story and characters.

I absolutely loved the shaping of the main characters, the flow of language, and the natural humor. The backstories of families dealing with Alzheimer’s and homophobia added a genuine depth that rang true.

It took me a while to finish the book because I kept rereading chapters, just so damn enjoyable to read that I would smile and laugh or nod, then start the chapter again.

Of course,I recommend the book and a big shout out to all third shifters who have worked in a medical center. I did for 22 years and this book was spot on in its description.

This is not the kind of book that immediately catches my attention. The cover would normally put me off. But it was on special offer at 99p and I could not be bothered to read any of the 200 books I already have waiting to be read.
The things that put me off: the cover. Fake relationships.
And that’s about the only negative thing I have to say. The rest is all good. I loved this book. It is so well written I couldn’t put it down, and now I am paying the price for spending all the time reading. Still, it was worth it. I liked the story unfolding from the perspective of one main character, it means much is hidden, but then the plot would become exposed too soon if told any other way. I liked it.
The fake relationship worked very well, not only the execution but the reasoning. I liked that. The characters were good too. The evolution of the characters, their relationship with each other, and how they grew and changed as individuals, worked well as the story unfolded. I liked them all. There is an age gap, but this to me, was not a large part of the story, it didn’t matter. Secondary characters are also interesting, including Haydn's non-binary friend, and Sam's brother, and the whole book fit together well.
If there was one thing that drew me in it would be the humour. I think this is what drew me in right at the start.

I have a feeling this is one book I shall re-read, and I am sure it will be as good the second time as it was the first.

I highly recommend it.

Hilarious and heartfelt. One of those where you don't realise how long you've been reading until the sun comes up and you realise the sun's nearly up and you should've gone to sleep hours before. A really enjoyable read.
