Nightingale: A Reed Security Romance Kindle Edition

Nightingale is book 24 in the Reed Security Series, and it is recommended that they are read in order.
Florrie
I'm a woman that always fights for what I want. Especially my family. There's nothing I wouldn't do for Alec, but what he's asking of me is too much. When did we start drifting apart? When did he stop being on my side? The moment I got the call from the social worker, I went into momma bear mode, ready to fight for the kid that had become like a son to me. But Alec? He wants to play nice and get along with Reid's so-called family. Why did they wait so long to come for him? Why now? Is it because of his money? I don't trust them, and I'm not about to hand him over without a fight.
Alec
Things were going so well between us. I asked her to marry me, and actually got her to say yes. I should have known that it wouldn't last. It seemed too good to be true. Now she's slipping away. I feel like I can't hold onto her anymore. She doesn't understand why I'm not fighting harder, but she doesn't know about my past. There are things that I've kept hidden from her, and I know when she finds out she's going to be pissed. I should have told her sooner, but I didn't want my past hanging over my head. Now it's too late. I may not be able to put us back together, but I'll die trying.

Impactful read!

Impactful read!
I am so happy to have found this author and she does not disappoint. With this book, she has once again delivered an emotionally packed storyline with characters that take one’s breath away as real-life situations bleed onto the pages. It can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading the series from the beginning so you meet the characters and see how the dynamics play out between the different people. Alec is the Reed Security leader of team five. He is a tortured man who has done everything in his power to move away from his past to be the best that he can be. However, he takes it upon himself to make decisions that can impact others without their input which causes some blowback. Florrie is a member of team five and Alec’s significant other. She is a woman with trust issues and knows her own mind and what she wants out of life. Reid is a fourteen-year-old boy who lived a life that no child should have to endure. Fortunately, he was found by Florrie and Alec when he was living on the street and his life did a one eighty. Florrie and Alec took Reid in and they became his temporary guardians. However, when questions with regards to Reid’s guardianship arise, a wedge begins to form between some of the members of the security team.I have to say that I was team Alec. He understood what Reid had gone through and was able to see past his own feelings to do what he felt was in Reid’s best interest. Florrie came off as a selfish woman who was unable to think about anyone except herself. This is one riveting read that any reader should pick up and experience for him or herself. I highly recommend. I volunteered to read a copy of this book and all opinions are my own.

This is a very emotional book so copious amounts of tissues will be needed. Florrie is not a favorite of mine and this continued through this book I consider it great writing when an author can evoke such emotions about a character. Alec continues to be his protective self and I’m Team Alec all the way (well up to an incident later in the book where the Ross Rachel Rule comes into play). Florrie goes off the rails when Reid’s aunt and uncle are awarded custody of him. She blames Alec and her anger rips them apart. I cried many tears and felt like knocking more than one of the Reed Security Family over the head but oddly enough totally enjoyed this one.

Spoilers, spoilers.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect since we already had Alec's story And they were together and got Reid in their life. Now we end up with Florrie's story. And now we have other family members come in forward for Reid since the senator was killed and his mom died.

The story was actually an interesting read, but there was too much conflict and hostility between the team members. And that I just couldn't get on board with. Florrie didn't want to lose Reid at any cost. And Alec wanted Reid to know his family And have the option of being included in a family. Because growing up, Alec did not have that.

In the end, they lost custody through the court and Florrie was ready to go on the run with Reid. But Alec didn't want that kind of life for any of them. So he did not support it. Team members were turning on team members as everyone was divided and who they supported. Going on the run would mean Reid would never have a normal life and Alec understood this. And wanted more for all of them. But Flory was too caught up in wanting to keep Reid. That she didn't see it that way. So everyone was pulling guns on everyone to try to allow, and prevent, Florrie from leaving with Reid. It was a hot mess. Alec got his butt kicked several times in the book by standing up for what he believed in and for a while, he absolutely lost Florrie.

She also treated him like absolute garbage. She was so mad and could not see beyond her own anger of losing Reed that it really was for his benefit and in his best interest overall. Which she finally saw at the end of the book. As they went through counseling to work things out.

Ultimately they were able to go visit Reed which was good for both of them and they were able to see for themselves that he really was doing okay. They let him know they were always there for him and then they went home. And found out they were pregnant with their own munchkin. But they were nervous because she already lost one baby due to her and demetriosis.

The ending was cute with Tony's announcement of his baby and his name. So that was fun too.

I'm looking forward to the end of the series at this point though. Well I am very invested in the characters, I'm also very much over some of the bad stories. Lol

Nightingale is the continuation of Alec and Florrie's story. This story starts were TNT ended. I have to say I am all team Alec and they were on a break. Florrie gets very mean in this story. She breaks because Reid is giving to his fathers family she blames Alec. Alec was just trying to keep everyone out of trouble and whats best for Reid. The author gives us the crazy banter between these characters. Great aaddition to the series. Happy Reading 📚

I cried. I feel like we got back into the realness of Reed Security with this books. Some of them have been super out there and while I liked them they weren’t quite on the level. We’re near the end but nice to see some happiness.

Boy did this book shock me, Alex & Florrie are both so stubborn & bullheaded it surprises me how they make it work. The author just makes you feel like your right there in the book going through all the stuff the characters are, you see both sides from each perspective, but at the same time siding with Alex then siding with Florrie! Have to read it for yourselves to see how it ends!

I like your series but I had a hard time with this book with a ten year old and a fourteen year old kissing. So inappropriate. So much anger is this book. I do love all the other books.

While I have enjoyed all of the books in this series, I wanted to smack Florid. What a hateful, spoiled, mean person. This was a book that I could have done without. Took me 3 days to finish because I just couldn't get behind it.
