Here With Me (The Adair Family Series Book 1) Kindle Edition
After narrowly escaping death, police officer Robyn Penhaligon leaves behind her life in Boston in search of some answers. Starting with Mac Galbraith, the Scottish father who abandoned her to pursue his career in private security. To re-connect with Mac, Robyn will finally meet a man she’s long resented. Lachlan Adair. Hostility instantly brews between Robyn and Lachlan. She thinks the head of the Adair family is high-handed and self-important. And finding closure with Mac is proving more difficult than she ever imagined. Robyn would sooner leave Ardnoch, but when she discovers Mac is embroiled in a threat against the Adairs and the exclusive members of the estate, she finds she’s not yet ready to give up on her father.
Determined to ensure Mac’s safety, Robyn investigates the disturbing crimes at Ardnoch, forcing her and Lachlan to spend time together. Soon it becomes clear a searing attraction exists beneath their animosity, and temptation leads them down a perilous path.
While they discover they are connected by something far more addictive than passion, Lachlan cannot let go of his grip on a painful past: a past that will destroy his future … if the insidious presence of an enemy lurking in the shadows of Ardnoch doesn’t do the job first.

Samantha Young has done it again with another outstanding series of books. Her books are a must read for all avid book readers. They really are the best books I’ve read and she really is an excellent author.
This was such a beautiful, complex and well-thought through series. It gave the perfect balance of character background, character growth, relationship development, and suspense. Young is an excellent writer and gave me enough of the characters’ personality to understand and care about each person in the story, and hope for how things would go in each of their lives. I loved seeing how Robyn grew as a person. How she fell for Lachlan and was able to grow with him and help him grow too. How she re-established her relationship with her father and overcame the personal issues she experienced. And how she learned to open up and put down roots by making friends and a life of her own.
Lachlan was also a intriguing character. A little older than Robyn and with more worldly experience, Lachlan knows what he wants from life. Or at least, prior to meeting Robyn, he thought he did. He might be older, but when it comes to matters of the heart, he’s not wiser. But thankfully, he’s met his match in Robyn and she’s willing to help him get through this difficult time in his life (aka a crazy stalker leaving threatening messages around the estate).
When it came to the whodunnit part of the mystery, I’ll admit, I did guess who it was going to be (I’ve watched a lot of police dramas and thrillers so I can typically work things out in advance). But Young definitely had me second guessing myself a few times which I loved because it kept me on my toes for the entire story.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story from start to finish and found myself in a bit of a bind with trying to savour every moment of the book but also wanting desperately to get to the end for the big reveal. Young has released a fantastic beginning to what is going to be an excellent series. I loved meeting the Adair siblings (well, most since we haven’t yet met all of the siblings) and already have a few ideas of who I think they would be perfect paired with! I’m not yet sure how I feel about Robyn’s half sister, however, since what we’ve learned so far is pretty irresponsible but I look forward to seeing how her character progresses in the next book.
Overall, this book was incredible, Samantha Young is firmly cemented as a favourite author of mine and I believe everyone who enjoys Young’s previous works, contemporary romance, romantic suspense or all of the above, should read this book immediately. Go get your copy today!

Ahhh this so so so good! Like seriously my new favourite book! I can’t believe I waited this long to read it 🙈
I knew from the moment I started this chunky book that I would love it. Samantha writes the best books and this was no exception!
I won’t give too much away but if you love thick books that are fast paced, have a hate to love, age gap romance with lots suspense and set in beautiful Scotland then I highly recommend this book!
After dealing with a near death experience Robyn goes Scotland to try and get closure on why her father abandoned her when she was a teenager to move across the world for his job as a bodyguard/head of security for the famous Hollywood actor, Lachlan Adair.
In doing all that she, her father gets stabbed during her stay and she finds out that they’ve been dealing with threatening messages towards Lachlan at his exclusive private estate. Being an ex cop she wants to stay and help them solve it while also trying to get to know her father again.
Robyn holds a grudge against Lachlan because she feels he stole her father away from her. But they obviously end up having to work together and the attraction between them becomes harder to resist 😉
I loved seeing Robyn and Mac slowly come together and get the father/daughter bond back that once had.
I also throughly enjoyed the whole suspense/sense of danger aspect, I did kind of guess what/who was behind it all but I was never 100% sure, and it had me in the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen next!
And I most definitely loved Lachlan and Robyn, the chemistry between them was 🥵🔥 and the way they eventually opened up to each other about their lives and what they’ve been through was 🥺😍 I love them so much! Even though Lachlan needed a kick up arse to finally see that his happiness was right in front him.
My review does not give justice it deserves but what I’ve written is only a tiny glimpse into the book but I hope it’s enough to convince you to read it M
I know I can’t wait to read the next! This is going to be my new favourite series!

OOOOOOOOOOOMG! Where do I even begin?!?!? This book basically consumed me from the moment I picked it up and I L-O-V-E-D every single second of it. Couldn’t get enough. Already looking forward to more. I always know to expect greatness when it comes to Samantha Young’s novels but I feel like Here With Me just went to a different level. It’s a whole new world, a new family, a new feel and vibe and I absolutely could not stop craving more of all of it. The Adair’s already have me wrapped around their pinky and considering this is only book one of The Adair Family Series, that has me feeling all kinds of giddy!
Robyn Galbraith Penhaligon...this strong, brave woman just about knocked me on my butt in every way possible. I’m pretty sure if you looked up the definition of strength it would have Robyn’s picture beside it. To say she’s been through a lot in the past year is putting it mildly...and it all led her to flying – alone – across an ocean to find the man who is her father. I cannot even fathom the amount of inner strength and bravery it would take to do something like that – I wanna curl up in a ball just thinking about it. I loved that after what happened to her, she stopped letting things hold her back...like finding her dad and pursuing her dreams of being a photographer – I think after everything she realized life was too short and she didn’t want to have any regrets and I respected that very much. I loved that she was so determined and independent...the word ‘no’ did not belong in her vocabulary. I loved her creativity and passion for photography. And I loved that she went to Scotland trying to repair one relationship and ended up with another that she wasn’t expecting.
‘His lips twitched, something like surprise in his expression. “Why, Ms. Penhaligon, did you just say something nice to me?”
“Don’t get used to it.” I threw him a smirk and moved to walk around him.’
Lachlan Adair...gah! This man...this beautiful, wonderful man – I want to hug him, strangle him (just a little) and hump him all at the same time. He brings out a lot of emotions...but there is no denying how amazing he is. There is so much to admire about Lachlan it’s hard to know where to start – obviously the rich, handsome, famous, former-actor stuff is all well and good – nothing wrong with any of that, but that’s not what made me fall in love with him. It was seeing him with the people he loves and cherishes most...his family, his friends, his inner circle. You can see how much he cares for the people in his life – they are his top priority and aside from Ardnoch, the one thing he values. I loved seeing how much pride he took in his family land and what he went through to keep it going. I thought it was an interesting choice that Samantha gave us Lachlan’s POV in third person (while Robyn’s is written in first person)...I mean, I’ll be happy to get that man whatever way he comes to me but I can’t lie and say I wouldn’t kill for being directly in his head – he has so much to offer as a character and I want it all.
‘Lachlan wanted to be around her all the time. She never bored him. Her dry wit and no-nonsense attitude made him laugh while her sense of adventure and lack of inhibition ignited his blood. Yet it was her fearless honesty and soft compassion beneath the sexy toughness that most called to him.’
Robyn and Lachlan are...combustible, electric, fire and ice, rough meets smooth and utterly perfect in every single way. I have a huge obsession for enemies to lovers...I cannot get enough of that angsty tension, the back-and-forth banter, the will they/won’t they aspect...it’s all so delicious I could eat it up with a spoon – and Robyn and Lachlan were epically awesome. SO much tension...and I was here for every second of it. I loved the age gap...I loved the complications with Mac (Robyn’s dad, Lachlan’s best friend and head of security)...basically it seemed like everything about these two just made me love them more. They’re both very similar...strong willed and stubborn to a fault, but they both have such a deep compassion for the people in their lives - they’re very caring and nurturing. And the way their relationship developed was per-freaking-fection for me. Watching them grow from barely tolerating each other to friends to more was everything I could have dreamed...it was such a natural progression. They built and created something that neither of them had ever had before...and it was so beautiful to watch and experience. I loved the trust that they developed...I mean - clearly, I loved everything that had together – even the sarcastic comments and little fights – but they both had been self-reliant for so long, it was so wonderful to see them allowing themselves to open up with another person.
‘He raised his head and saw the pain of that abandonment buried in the back of her eyes, and vowed he would never lose sight of that vulnerability in Robyn again. He knew better than anyone that often those who seemed the strongest buried their pain a little deeper than the rest. Sometimes those who seemed the strongest needed the support of others more than those around them ever realized.’
Samantha Young absolutely blows me away. Every single time I read her books...it’s like getting a warm, comforting hug. She has always been one of my favorite authors...she’s like a treasure and each one of her books is like discovering a new gem that is just as beautiful as all the rest. I have loved Samantha’s writing since On Dublin Street and that love has only grown exponentially with each of her books. I had a really good feeling about Here With Me but Samantha blew my mind a million times over with this one. I loved everything about Here With Me - it was so complex, there were so many different dynamics and layers...I was completely immersed in the characters, the location, the story – all of it! I truly could not get enough. I also loved the mystery/suspense aspect of it...it was a big part of the story but it didn’t take over, which I appreciated. There was a very delicate balance between the romance, the family issues and mystery, but Samantha managed it all so perfectly. It felt like a well-oiled machine...it just ran so smoothly and I was able to sit back and enjoy the ride.
‘His grip on my hand tightened, pulling me toward him. “So many people have failed you, made you feel like you aren’t a priority. I don’t want to be one of those people. Not when you are the most important person in my life. You consume me. You are beyond a priority at this point. You’re … f^(%, you’re everything. Robyn, I don’t know if I deserve you … but I can promise you, no man will ever try harder than me to be worthy of you.”’
The ending was...good. Really good. Solid. Smooth. Everything I could possibly think of was addressed...but not in a ‘I need to check this off this list’ kind of way. I like to pride myself on being able to solve mysteries – I was raised on them and completely blame my mother for this tendency because she does the same thing. It didn’t matter if I knew who was behind everything because there were some details I hadn’t figured out and the way everything came to a head was very unique and original. The effect it had on the characters was interesting and while I wish we had seen more of certain aspects (mainly involving Robyn and Lachlan), it was still a really amazing ending. And that epilogue...did not see that coming at all and it makes me even more excited to get my hands on There With You ! As I said from the beginning, the Adair family has me wrapped around their pinkies and I want stories for every single sibling – so I can’t wait to see whose turn it is next! #DreamingOfScotland #TakeMeToArdnoch
Once again, Samantha Young has graced us with a magnificently action-packed, yet romantic, page-turner!
Main characters, Lachlan and Robyn, are hands down some of my new favourite Samantha Young characters. It seems she gets more talented with every book, flawlessly one-upping herself each time. Simply put, every one of her books is even better than the last. 👌🏻
As expected with her work, “Here with me” is a flawless blend of all the best feels. Action-packed, suspenseful, sexy, emotional, romantic, angsty, swoonworthy, and the list goes on and on! I mean, how can it not be at least a bit swoon worthy with a main man named Lachlan?! Such a fantastic name, definitely main character quality... Plus, I may or may not have a weakness for Scottish men 😏😉... but that’s beside the point. Lol 🥴😜
Long story short, “Here with Me” has an absolutely perfect blend of everything you want in a good novel. The way that Samantha was able to effortlessly keep my attention hooked, automatically makes this novel worth five stars or more in my books. In other words: YOU NEED TO GO READ THIS STORY!!!! I highly recommend it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I cannot wait to get my hands on more “Adair Family” novels in the future! Positively tremendous work Samantha!
I wish the ending had gone on longer and we saw more of Robyn and Lachlan happily together but I assume we’ll get that in the coming books. The only thing I didn’t love was Lachlan’s confusing behaviour and how Robyn ended up in the emotional wringer because of it. And the whole I’m not good enough for her etc. I’m glad he came to his senses but yeah, not my favourite thing though it wasn’t out of line considering his last I guess.
