Beautiful colors. Creamy, rich pencils that glide over the paper. Just a bit too expensive for not very many pencils. I love them but would not spend $20 for them again. You can find lovely soft core pencils for much cheaper in my estimation. But if you are looking for a nice gift for an artist you love....these would be very nice. Not saying anyone else wouldn't want to spend that much, just not me. I don't consider myself too "tight" with money either. The colors really aren't that special. They are beautiful, but most pencil sets are. Just my opinion. :)

I bought these colored pencils to gravitate to more of a professional grade colored pencil and not just crayolas waxy cheap colored pencils. I love these colored pencils because of how creamy and pigmented they are, they’re really great quality my only quarrel with them is they’re so soft I can’t even sharpen them. My most used color is always black (for line work) but I can’t even use my black colored pencil because every time I sharpen it it breaks 😭.

I don’t have this issue with all of them but some of them seem to be softer than others and break very very easily. I don’t think my black colored pencil is even useable which is why I deducted a star. All in all good quality just very easily broken .

I was excited about the color range for this but the quality is lacking. You can’t blend at all or layer at all. It’s too waxy for that. What I did get from this is the sense that yes, I enjoy colored pencils and maybe should invest in some better quality ones. I guess you get what you pay for. I bet castle’s pencils would be fine for doodling but for doing realistic shading the fact that you literally cannot layer or blend is a deal breaker for my needs.
