An interesting collection. I like the concept but the follow-thru was iffy, thus my 3-star rating.
Of the eleven short stories in this collection, I had three strong favorites.
'Revelation Express', 'Unhallowed' and 'Red Tail Shifters' were my favorites. 'Blank Page' was a strong runner-up. The other seven were just 'meh' for me. My biggest hang-up for the collection in general and those seven stories in particuar was the rather abrupt endings. In a couple of cases extremely abrupt.
'The Tangerine Genie' while a very good story, didn't seem to fit the concept of an underdog. A well adjusted, happy, financially secure family comes into possession of a genie and the temptation of the three wishes. Where's the underdog in this story? But, Yay for the wife having the sense to take care of the problem!
