Tracking Mayhem continues from the ending of Restless Mayhem and dives right into the fray with the gang racing to save polar bears from the Killzme Corporation. Coletta does amazing research for her stories and this one was no different. All the details she provided were so absorbing, they added extra depth and realism as well as pulling you right into the book.
These characters have taken quite a turn since the first book in the series and I look forward to seeing what exciting adventure they have next. This book was a great addition to the series.
Another fantastic chapter in the Mayhem Series. On a quest to save polar bears from poachers, this book took me on an emotional roller coaster. The imagery is amazing. Sue Coletta knows how to reach into your heart and just grab you. Highly recommended read!!
Mr. Mayhem, Shawnee, her grandfather, and two crows (Poe and Spirit Crow) are the core characters. The crows aren’t ordinary crows, but intelligent members of Mayhem’s family, with strong personalities and complex emotional connections. They not only add a lot of interest to the read, but they play a role in the plot.
Mayhem and Shawnee are eco-warriors, and their mission is to save polar bears in Alaska from canned hunts hosted by the Killzme Corp. Killzme is a ruthless harvester of life, including endangered species, and they won’t go down without a fight. Seeing them get what they give was satisfying, to say the least.
Along with the action elements of the story, there’s a strong thread of Native American spirituality, particularly as related to the earth and her creatures. It formed the foundation for the characters’ actions and added depth to their choices. The story also weaves in a lot of well-researched and heartbreaking facts about the plight of polar bears in our non-fiction world.
A highly recommended read for fans of eco-thrillers, thrillers in general, and readers who enjoy unique characters. Start with Book 1 or start here (and backtrack like me).
Shawnee Daniels, Mr. Mayhem, Poe, and Jacy Lee will come up against a large group that could be their down fall, but with determination, faith in their reason behind this fight and the love and respect for the earth, animals, and their destiny will keep them focused and fighting.
This story brought many emotions out while reading, anger, sadness, fear, and the lightness that always eases the rough spots when needed that Sue includes in her stories. Shawnee is still as sassy, strong, and kind as always.
I always find that I learn something new when reading the books in the Mayhem Series and Tracking Mayhem was no different. I had no idea about the fur of a polar bear and I found that very interesting. I loved this story and I can’t wait to read the book in the series, they keep getting more intense as they go along, and I’m looking forward to more. I give this book a 5-star review.
