It was great to visit Shawnee, Mayhem, her grandfather Jacy Lee, and the crows and follow along with their newest adventure. There was an intensity and determination by the characters carried throughout the book and plenty of excitement, danger, Native American culture, suspense, an array of emotions, and some laughs along the way.

Tracking Mayhem continues from the ending of Restless Mayhem and dives right into the fray with the gang racing to save polar bears from the Killzme Corporation. Coletta does amazing research for her stories and this one was no different. All the details she provided were so absorbing, they added extra depth and realism as well as pulling you right into the book.

These characters have taken quite a turn since the first book in the series and I look forward to seeing what exciting adventure they have next. This book was a great addition to the series.

This is such a great book I don't know where to start. First there was of course lots of action and suspense with characters that I love. Sue has blended a perfect mix of characters that make a fantastic team of eco warriors. Shawnee and Mayhem are working to save bears and all the innocents while she also learns about her culture from Mr. Mayhem and Jacy Lee. Our favorite crow, also known as Poe is still pestering Shawnee and causing trouble. I highly recommend this book and although it can be read alone the entire series is fantastic! Loved it!

I read the first book in this series some time ago and then jumped to this one (Book 7). I wasn’t confused by the leap in the story, but it certainly made me want to backtrack and fill in the gap. These are some of the most compelling characters I’ve read in a long time with highly unusual relationships. By reading out of order, I missed their evolution.

Mr. Mayhem, Shawnee, her grandfather, and two crows (Poe and Spirit Crow) are the core characters. The crows aren’t ordinary crows, but intelligent members of Mayhem’s family, with strong personalities and complex emotional connections. They not only add a lot of interest to the read, but they play a role in the plot.

Mayhem and Shawnee are eco-warriors, and their mission is to save polar bears in Alaska from canned hunts hosted by the Killzme Corp. Killzme is a ruthless harvester of life, including endangered species, and they won’t go down without a fight. Seeing them get what they give was satisfying, to say the least.

Along with the action elements of the story, there’s a strong thread of Native American spirituality, particularly as related to the earth and her creatures. It formed the foundation for the characters’ actions and added depth to their choices. The story also weaves in a lot of well-researched and heartbreaking facts about the plight of polar bears in our non-fiction world.

A highly recommended read for fans of eco-thrillers, thrillers in general, and readers who enjoy unique characters. Start with Book 1 or start here (and backtrack like me).

Although I have read the Mayhem Series out of order and enjoyed the journey, I’m glad to be caught up and fully understand Shawnee’s growth and change. Throughout the journey, I have gained an education about not just Native American culture and history, but also about wildlife and our connection to it. Here, Shawnee, Mr. Mayhem, and Jacy Lee head to Alaska to save the polar bears. I knew little about polar bears other than they appear white and their territory is shrinking, so all the extra details fascinated me. Set in Alaska, a place that has always called me, only made the story more intriguing. Shawnee is still in training under Mr. Mayhem in his cabin with her grandfather and the crows. The crows always add humor, especially Poe. Their personalities as just as strong as their human counterparts. There are always surprise twists that make this a page-turner, as Mr. Mayhem and Shawnee run toward the danger instead of away from it. When they pretend to be man and wife to gather information, it can lead to some humorous moments. The corporation that makes a living from illegal animal trafficking and hunts is after Mr. Mayhem and Shawnee, too. Another great story where saving animals is not only the goal but a way of life. I can highly recommend “Tracking Mayhem.”

I love reading Sue’s books. Not only do I get completely drawn into the story, but it is also educational, emotional, and mood lightening.

Shawnee Daniels, Mr. Mayhem, Poe, and Jacy Lee will come up against a large group that could be their down fall, but with determination, faith in their reason behind this fight and the love and respect for the earth, animals, and their destiny will keep them focused and fighting.

This story brought many emotions out while reading, anger, sadness, fear, and the lightness that always eases the rough spots when needed that Sue includes in her stories. Shawnee is still as sassy, strong, and kind as always.

I always find that I learn something new when reading the books in the Mayhem Series and Tracking Mayhem was no different. I had no idea about the fur of a polar bear and I found that very interesting. I loved this story and I can’t wait to read the book in the series, they keep getting more intense as they go along, and I’m looking forward to more. I give this book a 5-star review.
