El cuchillo es muy ergonómico y robusto, pero no trae buen filo de fábrica y la funda es extremadamente apretada al principio, con el uso se suaviza un poco. Por lo demás es una bestia.

This is the full size SRK Survival knife made in Japanese SK-5 high carbon tool steel and has a couple of improvements from the older knives. First the SK-5 is an excellent tool steel with great toughness and durability despite its low price. The 6.5 inch blade is coated for weather protection, this is not a stainless steel. The knife features a hollow grind for superior sharpness and comes with a new thermo-plastic sheath. The handle is the usual Kraton rubber which feels good and protects the hand from shock. In my opinion this knife is as good if not better that knives many times the price. Very highly reccomended.

This knife can take a beating. It's a great camp knife if you like a 6 inch blade, it batons and carves really well. The handle is very grippy and vey comfortable, and the sheath has good retention. I like that you can take it off of your belt without having to take your belt loose.
The sk5 steel holds its own. I think it's somewhere in the realm of 1080 in American terms. Holds a decent edge, and very easy to sharpen in the field.
I have used this knife to the point that most of the blade coating has worn off, and now it has earned a place with my emergency gear that I keep in my jeep because I know I can depend on it. Great knife, if you are on the fence just buy it and you won't be sorry.

But not too short where you couldn’t span a decent sized log for batoning and you could even fight with it, it would rather have this than 5 inch knife just for those reasons. I keep a mora on my hip and this in pack Incase I need to survive ! I also put this on my hip at night. Also I love the sheath. It’s verh very nice.

This is a huge chunk of knife for the money. No frills or gimmicks, just a good sturdy versatile design that carries well, has a positive and comfortable grip, and lends itself to all manner of chores. Factory edge is impressive and the right tools and a modest bit of skill will only make it more so. Excellent value.

The blade design is a bit different from other, older SRKs (like the Carbon V, Aus-8). Specifically, the ricasso (the unsharpened part of the blade near the handle), that most of us love to use as a choil for delicate work, is only 1/3-1/2 of the size of other SRKs. This unsharpened part is also narrower than the rest of the blade, while on other SRKs it is the same width as the rest of the blade. I am a little bummed about this (stupid) change to the design for the SK-5 steel version.

SRKs are great knives- amazingly sturdy, well designed, sharp (although this one needs a little touch-up out of the box), and very lightweight for how much knife you get. This knife just feels soooo right in my hand, it is so light, fast, and maneuverable feeling, and the handle is probably the most comfortable of any of my (many, many) fixed knives. I really like the sheath here too: secure retention, no/little rattle, good construction yet light weight, flexible lashing points, ability to put on belt without having to remove the belt first (I wish EVERY knife sheath would follow this!), etc.

This SK-5 version is very affordable for what you get, so I've been dying to get my hands on one since they were first announced. There are a few places where the fit and finish is just a little sloppy, but overall it is pretty good. The ultimate test, of course, will be to see how the cheaper SK-5 high-carbon steel used in this affordable version holds up under extreme use. I haven't yet had the chance to put it through any of the usual grueling tasks (batoning, chopping, stabbing through sheet metal, etc.), but it has held up well to 1 year of light use so far. The weight is a little too low to make for a good chopper, and the clippoint tip is not as great for batoning as a drop-point tip (since it will chew up your baton stick), but I think this knife will generally perform very well. The SRK design is very versatile and comfy to use and carry, I'm just bummed that they changed the ricasso/choil area so that you can no longer move an index finger up past the guard for increased finer control when making feathersticks, carving, etc. I was really hoping this cheaper SK5 version would just keep exactly the classic, tried and true SRK design (beloved by Navy Seals and civilians alike), but just offer it in more affordable steel (that still got a good heat treatment). But the design changes leave me a bit disappointed, and keep me from giving this version 5 stars.

"Wow" was what I actually said when I opened the package and held it in my hand. It's not large, but feels solid and substantial—good weight will help in many working situations too. I haven't used it for any serious work yet, but I feel that I can safely rely on this knife. The simple handle is also very comfortable and easy to hold and use, the texture feels great too, probably good at preventing slippage.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sokid knife, Cold Steel quality and a great sheath. 10/10 if they added a ferro rod holder and rod to this package.
Reviewed in Canada on July 6, 2018
Nice and sharp out of the box, coated to resist corrosion and 1/4" thick blade. My first choice of all my knives if I have to baton some wood. The unsharpened swedge will chew up a baton fairly quickly, I would prefer it is this part of the spine was flat instead. The rubber hilt is comfortable in the hand and not too slippery. I wish that they had extended the full tang beyond the grip which would allow for hammering in a stake or peg, crushing ice or nuts etc.

One drawback to the blade coating is that this knife can't be used with a ferro rod. I have seen some mods to grind a 1" long bare flat on the spine to alleviate this issue. Nicer if the factory did it for us.

The sheath is very well constructed featuring a Kydex shell and a nylon webbing belt loop and snap loop for extra security around the hilt. That said, sheath retention if extremely good on this knife. It takes a good tug to get the knife free or seat it fully in the sheath. Lots of holes and 4 slots around the perimeter of the Kydex for multiple lashing options.

One thing I would like to see, in conjunction with a ground portion of the spine, would be an integrated ferro rod holder. This would be a very rugged and near perfect survival knife with that addition.
