For those not familiar with the vertical/slanted mouse, it might take a tiny bit of getting used to, but it is such a better position for your wrist. There is much less strain on the wrist when it is functioning in the handshake position compared to the palm-down position of most mice. Just ask an occupational therapist about carpal tunnel/repetitive strain.
My previous mouse was the Evoluent, which had been the ergonomic gold standard vertical mouse, very expensive at over 100 bucks, and consistently develops serious problems over time: the scroll wheel stops working (instead bouncing the page up and down in place when attempting to scroll), and then eventually the buttons start to double click every time you try to single click. I thought my first Evoluent mouse was a dud, but the second one eventually went the same way. This was so frustrating to have happen repeatedly with such an expensive mouse. I could not bear to spend money on a third, so I searched Amazon for a more economical replacement this time around.
The iClever is even more comfortable to me than the Evoluent. I can easily reach the left-click with my index finger, even with my hand resting on the desk, whereas with the Evoluent, which is taller, I either had to reach my finger awkwardly or levitate my hand above the desk while mousing in order to reach more easily. I also like the angle between my fingers and thumb better with the iClever, not too wide or narrow. The mouse wakes my computer up easily with a shake. And if this one ever were to develop problems with clicking, scrolling, etc., at the price point of 20 bucks, it wouldn’t be so painful to have to replace. My only minor complaint with the iClever mouse is that the scroll wheel clicks loudly when scrolled, which can be an issue when I’m using my computer during a virtual meeting or phone call.
I bought one iClever mouse and immediately liked it so much that I bought a second for my son. The second one came with an offer of an additional free mouse if I post a review, so that was a no-brainer to get one more mouse for my daughter. They were both able to adjust to using a vertical mouse quickly and easily. I love this mouse and am more than happy to share with everyone what a good replacement this is for the Evoluent!

The USB receiver responds well in some external docking station ports but doesn't respond well in others. Difficult to say why that is but it should respond well if directly plugged into the computer's usb port.
So to the point now. This iClever vertical mouse took me a week to get used to it and like it but at first it felt weird to hold and use. Now it is comfortable on the wrist and i use it on my main computer everyday. But there are some cons which they overlooked.
First of all, this is basically a chinese spinoff that iClever bought in bulk on Alibaba and rebranded. If you search jellybean vertical mouse, you see the same thing for a few dollars more with a different name.
Pros:
- comfortable for the wrist
- nice grip but does slide at first until you find your own way to hold it or get used to it
- cheap and gets the job done
- the two main buttons (left/right click) are indeed very silent and soft (but the idiots forgot to make all the other buttons silent too)
Cons:
- aside from the two main buttons, the other buttons (forward/back, scroll wheel) are not silent. I hate the stupid ad tactic all these silent mouse people use about not waking up a baby. If your baby wakes up to a mouse click, you have bigger problems. But anyway, if the goal is to be silent then why aren't the other buttons silent too. Cost cutting or just lazy designers?
- The scroll wheel is not smooth rotation. It has hard stops as you spin it. I prefer no friction at all like the Logitech.
- my thumb does tend to slide down too much if i don't hold the mouse firmly. But I shouldn't have to hold the mouse so firm. And holding it down for comfort means it won't glide around on the pad as smoothly due to the added force. So you have to find your style. I place my thumb on top of the edge instead.
- the backside slope is too steep. Makes my wrist slide down and rub on the mouse pad.
- Doesn't have software to customize the forward/back buttons to remap it to other functions or keys. Would be helpful when i'm using Premiere Pro.
So my headline says it all. Good for the price but not perfect. Better than paying $100. But if i wanted to spend $100, i would buy the MX Master 3 Advanced.

Except.
The only thing I wish i knew before getting it is: it won't help. I've been using it for a week and i find myself constantly fatigued, and pained in the fingers and wrist. Even my pinky feels numb.
The issue isn't the angle of the mouse, but the clicking. It's in the clicking. And then in the scrolling. And finally in the wrist mouvement. I feel like there's no way to get around it regardless of mouse design, short of using a pen tablet like a Wacom. I've been using those for years before trying this moue and never had an issue. I could go for hours on end and never feel pain or tired.
Their advantage lies in the fact that clicking isn't imposed on the index finger but the whole hand, since you tap the tip of the pen as left click, and ever so lightly. You then use your thumb to do things like middle and right click. The pain is rendered non-existent. The tradeoff is the size of the tablet on your desk, the low(er) portability and the lack of scroll-wheel. But are they enough to justify mouse-related health pains?
Again, this mouse in itself is wonderful. But you really need to assess if it actually solves your problems.
Having said all that, iClever started malfunctioning after 7-8 months, with a significant number of clicks not registering, many automatic double clicks etc. It was annoying and resulted in extra clicks, some errors creeping etc.
Bought Logitech Lift last week, depsite knowing that it was for medium sized hands. My slightly-larger-than-medium palms hurt like crazy as mouse is too slim for my hands.
Will be buying another iClever mouse. Worth it for its ergonomics, even if it lasts less than an year. (though, wish it was ~10% taller and wider ).
