CLIVE STAPLES LEWIS (1898-1963) was one of the intellectual giants of the twentieth century and arguably one of the most influential writers of his day. He was a fellow and tutor in English Literature at Oxford University until 1954 when he was unanimously elected to the Chair of Medieval and Renaissance English at Cambridge University, a position he held until his retirement. He wrote more than thirty books, allowing him to reach a vast audience, and his works continue to attract thousands of new readers every year. His most distinguished and popular accomplishments include Mere Christianity, Out of the Silent Planet, The Great Divorce, The Screwtape Letters, and the universally acknowledged classics, the Chronicles of Narnia. To date, the Narnia books have sold over 100 million copies and been transformed into three major motion pictures.

This review is not on the literary content of these books. This review is strictly on the physical delivery, packaging, and condition on and of these books. The delivery was quick from purchase time (not prime) and delivery person was good to place package safely behind porch decoration to avoid theft. *big thumbs up to delivery person* 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍As you see from the pictures, all the books appear in mint condition and hyper-wrapped in plastic to insure of no moisture getting in. All of the books fit perfectly into the box-set sleeve beautifully.I purchased this box set as a gift for my 11 year old who has been enchanted by the Narnia films and often wonders about the *missing movies* that tie the stories together. These are also approved reading books by her school for credit.

I really enjoy the movies and wanted some background on the characters, particularly the professor who didn't seem all that shocked when 4 children staying in his home started talking about a magical land. I found that answer and more in the books. The movies themselves (especially the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe) have a lot of references to the gospel message. But when you read the whole series you will see so many more scriptural references in each book. You could read these books as just adventure stories, and they are good stories that way. But if your spiritual eyes and ears are open, you will see so many biblical references.

I disagree with others who say not to start with the first book. These books follow a time-line. You will be doing yourself a great disservice by jumping around or skipping books. There is relevant information in each one that helps you understand the big picture better and the are set up in chronological order. I suggest starting with book 1. It gives you much better understanding of who some of the characters (such as Professor Kirke) are and their history and connection to Narnia.
