Don't mind me, I'm just still crying about this book. I heard so much about We Were Liars in 2015, but sort of passed it off as your usual overly-dramatic young adult contemporary. ‘’Be a little kinder than you have to, Cady, and things will be all right.’’Did things turn out right for our unreliable narrator?!I am not telling!I am still surprised how this hell of a book surprised the hell out of me when I wasn’t expecting it.And rightly so it should when you pick up an insanely hyped thriller with less than humanly possible lowest expectations, getting the book because it’s still one of the most read and rated thriller books and you feel the FOMO thang pinching your reader blogger heart. Will not talk much about the plot or the characters as it may spoil things for the unassuming review reader. But I would definitely say pick up this book if you like reading a good young adult thriller, thrillers with unreliable narrators, poetic/lyrical writing style in books and most of all, if you do not want to miss out on hyped most read books. The writing is fun, quite different from the many young adult thrillers out there so far. If you read it keeping in mind that the main characters are young adults, that is in their most confusing and trying to impress others phase of life, you will be able to enjoy the book more.My comment on the plot would be that it is done well. It hides what it has to and reveals things when it has to.Regarding the characters, I would say they are realistic and for some characters there’s the perfect balance of being realistic Vs being pretentious as the story demands.Does the ending explain the plot and the characters well?I would say it depends on the one reading the book.I think it’s expected but somehow you will feel the thrill when you read the answer on the last page!

We were liars is an extraordinary book, packed with emotions. The way the plot gradually thickens in such a beautiful and intricate way, is absolutely divine. I loved the writing, especially the first and the last few pages, and how they correlate. The author has had such a great job with everything, i just loved the entire plotline. My only complaint though, would be that it feels a little rushed. I would’ve loved it if it had been a little longer. A great book overall, absolutely worth a read.

Even though I've read a lot of reviews saying that this book is simply not worth the hype.. i have to say, It is one of the best pieces of literature I've read (after bible obv).. The style of writing by the author truly reflects the mental state of candy. Since her memories are broken.. the sentences are broken into lines too.. not to mention the twist at the end had me SHOCKED!! I was truly in tears. The was the author uses little stories within the book itself further helps the reader understand the situation.. over all a true 5 STAR read.. no need for a second thought.. just buy it.💅🏻

The characters are complex and really well written but this is not a book where you will like the characters they are gray and that's what is interesting about it I loved the writing style it was eclectic and dramatic the plot was executed perfectly kept me interested but this is not book
you can relate to this is not something that most people and relate to but still the setting was what made the book different would highly recommend you give it a try

I did not expect to leave with a broken heart, and now I see how the narrative style actually reflects the physical and emotional state of the protagonist after what she's just been through. People commenting on the writing and sentence structuring are missing this.
It isn't a typical fast-paced "thriller", but there is a twist in the end and an air of mystery throughout.
Nicely done, a decent summer read with a unique writing style, and one that's best-enjoyed in one sitting. Happy reading!

(Best-suited for those in their late teens, older people probably won't appreciate it as much.)

Omg this book was literally the best. It was fast pace and kept me interested the whole time. It’s set on an island that makes it a perfect beach read. Not to mention the heart dropping plot twist at the end that will have you thinking about it for hours. This is definitely a book you could read over and over again and still have it be interesting like a brand new book. At the end everything clicks and it’s really just so outstandingly written and is truly my favorite book yet!

Loved the story! I was very surprised by the twist! I knew there was gonna be one, but did not expect at all what it would be. Makes me want to read it again to see the hints I've missed.
I also loved the author's writing style.
