The book is beautifully presented - gorgeous cover photography and lots more beautiful images inside.
I am not convinced by the content however - it's written in a shallow social media style, lots of gushing language - some of the older generation might call it 'piffle' - that often lacks any really useful information of the type you might expect in a guidebook. I am hoping to visit the Amalfi coast at some point and, having read the relevant section, feel no better informed now than before reading it.
There is a pull-out city map of Naples at the rear of the book - the only really detailed map that it has, and yet it is reminiscent of the sort of map that you can pick up for free in any local hotel.
I haven't had a Lonely Planet Guidebook before but I have had many other city/country guidebooks and this one is very disappointing.

Note: As a member of the Vine program I was supplied with this item free of charge. I will always provide an impartial and fair review of the product in question. My rating system is as follows:
5 Stars – an exceptionally good, high quality product with no perceived shortcomings
4 stars – a very good product that met my expectations
3 stars – a product which could be better in some respects, but is still fit for purpose
2 stars - a product with significant shortcomings, one which disappointed
1 star - an absolute disaster of a product that should not be on sale
In this particular case, we have visited this region on a number of occasions in the last ten years, with the latest being a walking tour which included visiting all key sites of Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi town as well as the Valley of the Gods. We took optional tours to Vesuvius, Pompeii and Capri and therefore our knowledge of this region is current.
So what makes the book a five star book? Firstly it is compact and would fit into a day sack comfortably, yet at the same time it provides sufficient information for those travelling who like information but not to the point that reading the guide is a marathon. Basically it provides sufficient detail for what most travellers would require. I had to smile though that for those engaged on a guided walking tour every guide should carry a health warning that to enter the towns on the coast often requires navigating over 2000 steps from the rough pathways leading to the town.
The guide is divided into four main geographic areas for Napoli, the Islands in the bay of Napol, the Amalfi Coast and Salerno as well as providing generic information on money, accommodation etc. Each is well written combined with good images of what to expect. This is further enhanced through the incusion of a decent foldaway map of Napoli.
Overall then a good book which will provide all but the most adventurous with sufficient knowledge to enhance any visit to this area.
