Demo Like A Pro: A Craftsman CMXPTSG1010NB Air Hammer Review
I decided it was time to demolish the long and narrow shower in our master bathroom. Tearing down the walls was simple; however, I needed a different approach for the cement and membrane shower pan. I decided the Craftsman CMXPTSG1010NB air hammer, made in China, was the right tool for the job.Preparing this air hammer is straightforward. Just add an air hose quick connector (not included) and a few drops of oil. The chisel that comes with this tool is only 5”, so I swapped it out with a 7” version from the Craftsman CMXZTSG1056NB 5-pc air chisel set. Swapping the chisels required removing the spring retainer, then reattaching it. Then I connected the hose from my air compressor and got to work.With the Craftsman air hammer, I tore through the 3” thick layer of cement with ease. After a while, I was able to pull up the rubber membrane and finish this task. It’s rare that I do this sort of work, but I feel like the air hammer was a good approach.I want to retile the same bathroom and will use this air hammer once again. I am glad I ordered this tool and plan to get more use from it. Preparing this air hammer is straightforward. Just add an air hose quick connector (not included) and a few drops of oil. The chisel that comes with this tool is only 5”, so I swapped it out with a 7” version from the [[ASIN:B08299KNYF Craftsman CMXZTSG1056NB 5-pc air chisel set]]. Swapping the chisels required removing the spring retainer, then reattaching it. Then I connected the hose from my air compressor and got to work.
