Paper Daffodils: A Dawn & Rosie Adventure Kindle Edition
The last place divorcee Rosie wants to be is on a Seniors Retreat in the Lake District. She’s determined not to have
a good time, but an unexpected reunion with an old friend thwarts her plans. Her armour of bitterness proves no
match for the spirited widow Dawn; dragged through a whirlwind of adventures and betrayed by her own sense of humour, Rosie soon realises she hasn’t got a hope of staying sullen.
As Rosie clings to the remnants of her sarcasm, something about Dawn draws her closer than ever before. Soon, their bond threatens to run deeper, but is the possibility of a budding romance worth risking their rekindled friendship?

About the author
TITANIA TEMPEST writes high fantasy and contemporary romcoms, and her works regularly feature lesbian themes. As a sapphic writer, her goal is to give others the heroines she thirsted for whilst growing up.

Dawn and Rosie’s story is a heartwarming tale that will leave you smiling from ear to ear. From friends to lovers, these two are perfectly suited and well-suited for one another, which goes to show you that it’s never too late for love. Rosie’s grumpiness is no match for Dawn’s sunshine and rainbows and the two will make you fall in love with them in no time. Their banter is witty and their adventures are hilarious. This book is a gem that I highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun and charming read!

So different from the normal lesbian romance, it stars Rosie, a grumpy 60 year old divorcee and her old, slightly crazy friend Dawn, who's recently a widower, both spouses being men.
They end up sharing a hotel room in Lake District and get into some hilariously crazy scrapes. I absolutely loved these strong, hard-headed, cantankerous women.
Fantastic read.
The characters are well drawn, relatable and most importantly believable; the scrapes they find themselves in are handled deftly - with wit and enough of a light touch that any sense of danger is tempered by the knowledge that these two strong minded and strong willed women (and their sidekick part way through) will be able to handle anything life throws at them, even if Rosie does moan incessantly about it.
One slight content warning, around the use of mild language, and a note that some scenes, although not overt, contain content you may not wish younger readers to see - this is a sapphic novel after all...
That notwithstanding, this is an incredibly warm and funny book that appears (at time of writing) as if it might be part of a series (I hope), and bears re-reading to capture all the subtleties of an incredibly clever writer operating at the peak of her storytelling powers and clearly having immense fun doing so.
There are many moments of humour, but, essentially, this is a subtle love story where the friendship of sixty-somethings Rosie and Dawn develops into gentle romance.
The carefully-paced storyline is refreshing, and not without drama, and details of the relationship tastefully delivered.
It is inconceivable that this feisty pair are fictional; I believed every word!
(I hope they make it to Africa, by the way... Book 2?)
