and don't like diet plans where companies make you take their supplements

Lost lots of weight through basic diet and excercise, hit a hard plateau, and don't like diet plans where companies make you take their supplements. Read this book and gave it a try, as it's just normal food and no company to pay weekly. Oh my it's unbelievable how this concept works. Plateau destroyed!!

Not pretty, not fun- but REALLY effective! ***REVISED 11/2015***

**11/2015** YES, I still recommend this book! I finally got serious about my weight loss, and used this program for about 5 1/2 months; I lost 42 pounds. 51 pounds is my goal, and have gone back on this program to get me through the holidays. It really worked for me. Fair warning- I did have a friend try this program, and she followed the meal plan religiously (which I have never done); she didn't lose any weight in six weeks. So, might not work for everyone- but definitely worth a try!**
If you read the testimonials on the author's website, and in his book, you will see that he does not publish the actual weight lost by most of his reviewers. This made me a little suspicious (even though the 'case studies' gave glowing testimonials), but I decided to give this program a try. Man, am I so glad I did! In 3 weeks, I had lost 16 pounds. And, I have been off the program for about a month- and have not regained any of the weight back. (Yes, I only did it for 3 weeks; I have actually just re-started)
Fair warning, though- this program is not fun. I still get to eat cheese, and meat, and have a carb night every week, but that first 10-day carb detox was tough. It might not be so bad for everyone, but I have discovered that I was a carb-aholic (which might be why my results were so dramatic). After that first 10-day period, though, the cravings subsided, and the program got easier. And, knowing that I can 'treat' myself each week, helped keep me going. I like that I can eat regular food, and don't have to use a lot of crazy supplements; I have a family to feed, and can't be cooking two of every meal. I have started using a whey protein isolate shake for breakfast, and a fiber supplement- that's it.
This author tells you why other programs eventually fail, and cites decades of medical studies to back up his theories- the last 50 pages of his book are all the citations! He cites them well enough for you to go find the study yourself, and they all come from peer-review and medical journals (yes, I looked a few up, just to see for myself).
The author is a bodybuilder, and if you go to his website, you'll see that he's aiming for that market; but this program works for average, everyday people. I am a fairly active person, but hate exercise- so I am very much NOT into fitness training/bodybuilding. If you ARE a bodybuilder, or weight train on a regular basis (so are looking to build mass while shedding fat) this is not the program for you; you should check out the author's Carb Back-Loading program. (I looked into that one; it requires too much weight training for me) If you're looking for a program to use as a FAT loss tool (and not necessarily a lifestyle) this program is for you.
If you read this book, and decide that the program is too extreme for you, there's still worthwhile information in the book. I look at my food differently now, and I think I make better choices. It was a bit of a shock, what your body does with carbs...
No, I am not a paid reviewer, or affiliated with the author in any way- I am just a person that's tired of carrying around extra weight, and very glad to have found a program that works. Some of my family members have decided to try this program, after seeing my progress. I would highly recommend this book.
