(Author)
THE SWORD OF EDEN graphic novel introduces Rebecca Stern as she begins her career as a super-hero. What will happen when our young heroine joins forces with Nemish-Man, Kid-Cockroach, and Professor Jack in retrieving the Sword of Eden (the legendary sword used by angels to keep Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden). In their adventures, our heroes battle demons, zombies, a bunch of ninja, and other super-villains. And how will these super-heroes cope when they must combat mythological villains such as Count Orlok or the Green Knight? If that ain’t enough, will our heroes be capable of locating Noah’s Ark? Good story with entertaining characters. I enjoy Al's streamlined art style, it melds well with the story. If you get this book, you're going to enjoy it.

This book has it all: unique, memorable, and relatable characters, appealing story, well-written dialogue, and most importantly, a Christian narrative. If you're looking for a wholesome graphic novel that also includes Scriptural references, look no further. Plus, Al is working on a sequel to this book, which is exciting to look forward to.

Al Nickerson does a fabulous job keeping the story within Biblical guidelines, while at the same time adding fictitious heroes. Rebecca Stern is a fabulous character, not only getting it wrong in the beginning, but like the rest of us has the tendency to run ahead. Initially I expected a graphic novel with humor and a semi-serious story, but as I read it, the humor took a back seat to tackling some serious issues. If you don't have this graphic novel, you need to get it.

Do you like superheroes? Do you like Jesus? How about ninjas, zombies, alternate dimensions, Biblical archaeology, Arthurian legends, and spiritual warfare? This book was a blast. I would call it a Silver Age-esque mashup of Genndy Tartakovsky and Jack Chick, full of comics and pop culture references. There are sobering spiritual truths alongside stream-of-consciousness fisticuffs. Really fun read! I'm ready for more.

The book has great biblical references to direct the reader, especially if it is someone not knowledgeable about the Bible or biblical history. The characters are just beginning to come to life in a new series, so I can’t wait to see how Al pulls in their backstory and watch them come together as a superhero biblical team working on fighting off evil! Great start to a series!

The Sword of Eden is a breath of fresh air in an entertainment world that is continuously glorifying the wrong things. With the rise in superhero stardom, it is great to see a graphic novel written with a Christian undertone. I would recommend this for any comic book fan from ages 11 and up.
