Street Fighter X Tekken is a crossover fighting game featuring tag-team style combat between two-character teams of fighters from the Street Fighter and Tekken game universes. Before I got this game, I felt this was gonna be Street Fighter featuring Tekken characters... I was wrong this is far from SF4, Because it's more in- depth and has the feeling of both series, the first thing that happens when you start the game is you're prompted to a training session and I advise you to do so. In the training there is 20 levels in which they all familiarize you with the new controls and gameplay mechanics such as: Crossover style, cross combos, super arts and cross arts. I won't spoil them all for you but the training is really helpful especially for someone like me who's not so comfortable with Tekken. One of the big things I like about this game is how you can customize a lot of things starting with the fighters costume and the best part is the gem system which allows you to equip three gems for your fighter which really makes a huge difference. I suggest when using the Gem System to first know how is your playing style for that specific fighter and also know what you want to achieve with them for example: I like Law from Tekken and I realize he has no projectiles so you have to be up close for his attacks, therefore I use the gem to make him faster or better yet the gem for auto throw breaking so my opponent can't throw me. You have so many gems at your disposal so get to know them all because they can make or break the match for you. This really requires a lot of time master so be willing to put in the time if you want to become good and must also master the crossing system, pandora mode where you sacrifice your partner to make yourself more powerful for a period of time and combos and juggles because they are the most important when utilizing the gems... Also if you purchase the Special Edition of this like I did you get 36 additional gems, special edition art work, prequel comic book, an arcade bank (you have to put it together yourself though) which is nice, so the extra $10 is not bad. Now for my review: GAMEPLAY 5Stars it exceeded my expectations by blending two games together and adding more, it takes time to master but, when you do you'll love it, GRAPHICS 4.5Stars doesn't quite have the look of SF4 but it looks good, MULTIPLAYER 5Stars you have a lot to choose from such as 2-ON-2 Player matches where 4 people control their own fighter, I won't spoil them all for you. However it's one of the best multiplayer experiences on a fighting game. FIGHTERS 5Stars I have no complaints on the fighters for either side, yeah there are people I would've like to have but big deal. In addition you get this PS3 get a few exclusive fighters 360 won't. STREET FIGHTER X TEKKEN: SPECIAL EDITION 5STARS... PERFECT!!!

I am having so much fun with it. I only wish I played this back when it first came out although at the time I was a PC player and I didn’t know about this. I actually wasn’t playing fighting games but now that I’m back this is definitely one of the ones on my list and I’m enjoying it now.

First off, don't bother buying the special edition. The extras are crap and the whole gem system pretty much is useless and that's what half of the special edition crap is.

As for the game itself, it's decent but still falls behind SF IV and even MVC3. WHether or not you like the game play is up to you. Obviously, they have to please the Tekken fans with making the game a bit less projectile friendly and more dial a combo heavy. I'm not a big fan of the Tekken game play and the tweaks to the game play aren't my cup of tea. That's still my opinion and each person will think differently so it's up to you as to whether or not you like it. There are no extra characters to unlock (but there's going to be a lot that they're going to sell you via DLC) but you might be able to unlock some gems that are pretty much worthless. There may be some stuff for character customization but that doesn't really add to the game play. That's just extra frill stuff that's just there for the sake of trying to create extra replay value but doesn't do much.

Most of those short comings in the single wouldn't be a problem if it wasn't for the fact that the online experience is quite bad. Half of the sounds from the characters don't even come through and when it does it lags. This is just completely odd because Capcom did a pretty good job with SF IV and MVC 3 and I never had this issue unless it was due to a bad connection which, as far as I could tell, I always had good connections when I was playing it. I wasn't downloading or streaming anything over the internet when I was playing, this game just came out so there were plenty of connections and I was getting good connections but so far, all of my experience online had been sub par to say the least.

I don't see any way to get any fun out of this unless you're playing someone else on the same game in the same room because you just can't get a consistent, smooth game online.

Knowing that there's already plans for DLC characters, which are supposedly already on the dics but just locked up, with Capcom's history, there just might be a "Ultimate Edition" of this game in 9 months and I just can't recommend a purchase of this game right now.

I am a fan of the Street Fighter franchise. I only purchased it because it had a similar game play and button functionality to previous Street Fighter Games. However, I do find it interesting when game developers create a mash up with different game franchises. Originally, I have never been a Tekken fan.

Pro:
-Graphics are amazing, considering that it is PS3
-The fight speed to not too fast, an example of a fast fighting game is Marvel vs Capcom 3
-Button layout can be changed to meet personal need
-Button functionality is similar to previous Street Fighter games. Veterans of the SF games will not have a problem. People new to the game will not have a problem after a few hours. I believe that it is generally simple
-Great game play features: combo system, power ups, and special moves

Con:
Can be very repetitive after a few hours. Remember that it is just a fighting game. The game is beaten after completing a designated number of fights
