I was fixing up an old school desk, and had found several sites where people fixed them, using White Board paint on the desk part! I thought it was a great idea, read everything I could ahead of time, but it didn’t work-at all!!I sanded the top/desk part to get it nice and smooth, there was no dust or anything, and I prepared the paint. It’s SUPER thick, and didn’t spread well (they recommend using a foam brush, but mine was cheap and broke, so I used a foam roller). You only have about an hour after mixing the paint, and I needed to do several coats to fill in the crevasses it was making, when trying to spread it with the roller… the first coat settled some after a few minutes… but it didn’t have full coverage, so I added the second and third coats, but they didn’t settle, and in the end, it looked chunky and wasn’t flat at all… ended up sanding it all off and just painting it white. Was pretty bummed I couldn’t get it to work. Would have been a very cool addition to an really nice look desk, in the end… (photo is of the finished desk, after having to start over on the top. I didn’t get pics during the process in case my daughter looked on my phone!)

I work in intervention and painted a table top last year with some really expensive dry erase paint. It ghosted for no reason and just didn’t wipe very clean. I used cleaner every day on it. It started rubbing off after a year so I bought this rust oleum. It went on nicely. I followed the directions to the T. Unfortunately, as much as I had scrubbed my table prior to the application,(and I had SCRUBBED) there was still dry erase residue on the table which mixed with the paint and made a grey area in the center of my table. I thought I could live with it. Turns out, I couldn’t. So 3 weeks later, I bought more rust oleum and painted it again since it’s still a fraction of the price of the stuff I had used before. this time it was super crisp white! It erases so easily! It still looks completely brand new after a month of school with me and the kids writing on it daily. I haven’t had to use any expo cleaner on it at all. Now, I only use BLACK expo markers on it as I have read that the colored ones will ghost. I have not had any ghosting or discoloration at all. We tend to erase within 5 minutes of writing tho too. I just can’t believe how nicely it erases tho compared to even regular dry erase boards. I’ll definitely be using this brand from now on.

This dry erase paint lets you turn any wall into a dry erase board. There were some reviews about the date and expiration issues. I went to Home Depot to purchase so I could check the date after reading reviews. Unfortunately, the date is not easy to discern from the box. There were different labels on each box at Home Depot,I couldn't figure out what the numbers meant in terms of an actual expiration date, and it was more expensive. I purchased in Home Depot on my Amazon App on my phone. The paint comes in 2 cans. When you combine them, there is a slight odor, but way less than a regular can of latex paint. Combined, the liquid filled about 2/3 of the quart can. I was able to cover the back of two doors in my mudroom with the liquid using a regular roller. I put about three coats on the doors, waiting about 10 minutes in between each coat. I let it dry overnight. The next morning, it was dry and I was able to put magnets back on both metal doors without issues. You then wait about 3 days before writing on it with a normal dry erase pen. When the writing stays on for a few days, it is a bit more difficult to wipe off, but a little water washes it totally clean. It is a great product and has been very helpful in managing our home since I can leave notes on the door with reminders as we walk out the door.
Note: If I were to do this again, I think I would have put a fresh coat of pain underneath this dry erase paint. The bit of sheen it makes points out any pre-existing flaws in the existing paint.

I did check to make sure this was a current batch ( other reviewers explained how but you could call the manufacturer to confirm). I ended up putting on 4 thin coats on a 54 sq ft wall. I bought two packs. I got two good coats from each. I used a high density foam roller, like the kind you use to paint cabinet doors. I did try one coat with a standard foam roller, but it put too much product on and I had some runs to deal with. Stick with the cabinet rollers.

I did two coats with the first batch in day one. Waited a day and lightly sanded and cleaned before coats 3 and 4. Note it will be tacky after the first coat when you apply the second. And it will take 6-8 hours to be touchable without being tacky. While it's tacky, it will attract dust so be careful if moving drop cloths, vacuuming, etc. some how I got some light dust specks on part of the wall which may have been from moving a drop cloth around.

So how does it work? Black dry erase works perfect. Some colors may be harder to remove. Stick with standard dry erase markers. No low order or highlighters. They seem to be harder to remove. I was able to get them off completely though with dry erase cleaner. Use isopropyl alcohol or dry erase cleaner (they are the same) to remove any shadowing. Do not use windex. I suspect in time it will damage the surface.

I also noticed after a few extra days it was easier to remove the marker.

Again, black works great. Colors, you mileage may vary.

Strong odor passes after about an hour. I didn't think it was bad but my complained a little.

I'm happy with it so far. Great price. Just don't expect it to be the greatest whiteboard ever. All whiteboards work less well over time. Keep in mind you are painting over drywall. a wall with some texture. It makes using erasers harder to use. I just use a paper towel to get rid of most of the marker and spray what is left.

Excellent! I applied 2 coats and let it cure for 5 days (minimum 3 days recommended). End finish is similar to porcelain whiteboard. Both "Bic magic marker" and "Expo" markers work great and won't leave permanent marks, even after a few days. Very easy to erase (when using Bic and expo markers) as well.
Just be aware that the total coverage stated on the box is for a single coat and I would not use this product with less than 2 coats.
I placed 2 different orders for this product and received both packages the day after ordering. It's been shipped from "Hoerr Racing Products". Those guys are fast (pun intended...).
