**Updated** I LOVE IT! I’ve updated my original review twice with a lot of details
I'm leaving my original review below to show the frustrations I was having trying to get a product that was not scratched or dented.————————2nd updateAfter having this tea kettle for a while now, I absolutely love it. The quality is amazing—surgical grade stainless steel. It was very much worth the wait. I’m so glad I fought through the initial issues I originally described below. This time I just thought I would address a couple of reviews I read before buying it.First, someone posted about a hazard from water boiling over through the lid. That happened to me one time and it was my fault. Several times, I pushed the envelope by filling the kettle with water above the fill line. On one of those occasions when I was really bad—going well above the fill line, I got that issue with the water bubbling a bit through the top lid. I have never had an issue with this when I followed directions & filled only to the max fill line. Do not fill the kettle excessively and you shouldn’t have a problem ever.Secondly, I read a review that was complaining about the water taking a long time to boil. This thing holds quite a bit more water than most kettles. It holds over 3 quarts. More water takes more time to boil. That’s all. If you don’t need 3 quarts of boiled water, only put in a little more than the amount of water you need. The less water you start with, the less time it will take to boil. Also, I have accidentally left it out for a long time with water sitting in it still a few times now. Not even a hint of any rust or corrosion at all. That seems to be a non-issue.Finally, the handle does cool down quickly. You might wait just a few seconds. But I’ve been grabbing and pouring pretty much immediately after turning off the burner. And, actually, I’ve noticed that the higher the level of water the warmer the handle seems to be. When I boil less water, there is absolutely no discomfort for me when I grab the handle immediately.————————1st UpdateSo, after I wrote that review, I started doing some more research to find which kettle to buy instead. With the quality & appearance of this product (mostly the surgical stainless steel that this product boasts), after giving it some more thought, my thoughts were reinforced that this was the kettle I want. So, I tried one more time to get one that wasn't scratched or dented. Finally on the next try, success. Well, there was about a 1.5" scratch on the opposite side of what I would see all the time. When I wiped that scratch with a wet sponge, it seemed to disappeared. And, I haven't seen it to my naked eye since. I did however put a flashlight up to it. And, it is still there. But, somehow, to the naked eye, it can't be seen. Even if I could see it, it's on the opposite side of where Ill always see based upon being right-handed with the spout pointing to the left when sitting on the stove. So, I probably would have stuck with this one no matter what. But, since it's not visible now really at all, I'm good with the condition upon arrival.Ok, enough about the condition of the various kettles I received. Once I received one that I'm good with on its condition, this IS the kettle. I've had it about a month now. Since before then, I've been on a kick trying various teas (especially chai and several other different spice variations. But I digress). I do wipe out excess moisture when done with it and let it sit while still hot, without the lid on, so any remaining moisture will evaporate. Often, especially if the kettle is not very hot, I'll even place it upside down, without the lid, to allow it to completely dry. I do only boil water in it. I don't add anything to it--no salt nothing--just water. After a month of pretty heavy use, so far the kettle looks like new both inside and out. And, I feel confident, especially with the way I take care of things, that it will for a very long time to come. The only thing mechanical is the button you push at the top to open the spout. Nothing seems janky about that at all. That feels like it will hold up fine, too. The whistle seemed not so loud when I first used it. That was fine for me. But, it has gotten very loud since. I love it.As a secondary thought, I did question the handle in my original post. But, it really does cool down very fast. I can't grab it with a full squeeze immediately after the whistle goes off. But after turning off the fire, I can pick it up using the slanted sides of the handle (without a full-fisted grab), certainly within 10 to 15 seconds if not more immediately. I can then use a more full-fisted grab of the handle at about 45 seconds, very easily for me after a minute or so. I can do that and pour out the whole contents of the kettle. My hands are less sensitive to heat. I've called them asbestos hands, though they are not as tough with heat as a restaurant cook's hands that I know. So, it might take a little longer for you to feel comfortable grabbing the handle. But, I would say that this is really extremely fast especially compared to metal or even a wooden handle.I'm glad I stuck with it and tried one more order to get one that wasn't scratched or dented. The quality seems great--looks like the best one out there. And, I love the appearance.I love it so much that, in this updated review, I'm not even going to knock off a point for the original frustrations. I'll just leave the original review below so you can see what I went through. And, you can decide if you want to risk going through anything like this to get a good one. It's your call. But, this is definitely the one. I'm so glad I tried one more time. I love this kettle.----------------------------------------------------------------------Original Review:First, I don't remember if I have ever left a bad review of a product here on Amazon. If I even have, it's been a long time. The liner in another kettle that I really liked the style of concerned me. So, after quite a bit of research, I really wanted to spend a little bit more to get a higher quality kettle than just a basic one. So I ordered this one.It seems like it's durable, there's no lining inside to be concerned with. Also. the functionality seems like it would be great. Though I did boil water in one of the ones I received, I'm not sure the iCool thing means anything. I still had to use a pot holder to pour the water into a cup at the end of the boil. I guess you're supposed to wait a little bit. But, then I guess handles on all kettles could be called iCool, eh?Ok, the main issue. The kettle(s) I have received have all been scratched and/or dented. I've ordered and replaced a few times now. And, the defects are always on the side of the kettle I will always see when I'm boiling water.First delivery, I thought hmm should I just keep it? Then, you know, I take really good care of my stuff and I paid at least 4x more than just for a basic $10 kettle. I want to at least start out with one that is clear of defects I will always see.I wanted this kettle so much that I sent back for a replacement multiple times. The next one had a very noticeable scratch on the finish of the same side as well as dents along the kettle opening also on the same side. Next one also had a noticeable scratch on the very same side. And the one I just now received has dents along the kettle opening also on the same side of the kettle from middle to the back. Each time, I thought I'll just suck it up and keep it. And, I'm considering that now with the one I just received. None of the defects have been terrible terrible, just very noticeable. Given the pride I take in keeping my things in good shape and also knowing that there is no way they would use any one of those kettles in any promotional photos, no...I'll be kicking myself every time I get the thing out to use.On two of the deliveries, the kettle lid was not secure and bouncing around in the package. I thought maybe that might be what caused the scratches. But, that was the case with the one I just received and there were no scratches--just dents. What are the odds that 4 kettles in a row would show up with noticeable defects?I'm very frustrated here. I just want a decent looking, durable, functional kettle. 2 out of 3 isn't bad I guess, if it even turns out in the end to be durable and functional. I think it would. But, I just can't seem to receive one without scratches and/or dents.Go for it if you want. I think I'm giving up finally. I'm gonna shop around for something else.Good luck.

2nd update
After having this tea kettle for a while now, I absolutely love it. The quality is amazing—surgical grade stainless steel. It was very much worth the wait. I’m so glad I fought through the initial issues I originally described below.

This time I just thought I would address a couple of reviews I read before buying it.

First, someone posted about a hazard from water boiling over through the lid. Do not fill the kettle excessively and you shouldn’t have a problem ever.

Secondly, I read a review that was complaining about the water taking a long time to boil. This thing holds quite a bit more water than most kettles. It holds over 3 quarts. More water takes more time to boil. That’s all. If you don’t need 3 quarts of boiled water, only put in a little more than the amount of water you need. Also, I have accidentally left it out for a long time with water sitting in it still a few times now. Not even a hint of any rust or corrosion at all. That seems to be a non-issue.

Finally, the handle does cool down quickly. You might wait just a few seconds. But I’ve been grabbing and pouring pretty much immediately after turning off the burner. But, this is definitely the one. I'm so glad I tried one more time. I love this kettle.

Wide bottom makes it quick to boil on our gas range, and reduces heat getting to the handle, which gets warm but not too hot to lift. Push button mechanism works well and also does not get too hot, being at the top of the handle. Whistle works well, spout pour is smooth. Size is just right for a family. Overall very pleased.
