I am looking to improve my EQ and this book is a great fit. The book is organized well and simple to follow. Starts with establishing what EQ is, different areas (Self awareness, Self management...) of EQ, and then very specific tools and methods to improve EQ in those areas (celebrate small wins, self care...). Closes with how to integrate the methods in to lifestyle.

This book is very general. Does not have concrete exercises. It just draws your attention to the importance of EQ and the areas you can develop it without going into specifics and tells you to get a journal. Not worth the money, IMO.

This books concisely explains what Emotional Intelligence is and provides excellent tools and tips on how to improve it and apply it to your daily life. I started reading it to improve my chances of getting a managerial position at my workplace, but it turns out I could also do some work to improve my relationships with loved ones and colleagues.

3.0 out of 5 stars Reads like a 2.2 student's essay
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on August 15, 2022
It's not a long book, but despite that a large proportion is given over to selling its own concept in a laboured, repetitive and patronising style full of obvious grammatical errors and bizarre examples (one seems to assume everyone will relate to feeling obsessive rage over a colleague leaving a drinks can on a table, and recommends covering your workplace with passive aggressive notes as good emotional management). The actual "techniques" when you finally get to them, are the sorts of things you see on an inspirational meme or Instagram "life hacks" infographic and there's no explanation of how someone with poor emotional intelligence is going to actually implement them. In summary the book reads like the undergrad essay of a student who took science because they suck at prose writing, and assumes their reader has a mental age of 8. You're not going to learn anything life changing from this book.
