    I gave it a 5 star because the quality is above and beyond. The packaging was bad all on Amazon. No packing material. Package ended up opening in box that was way oversized and small pieces rolling around. Smith is still an American made product out of Watertown SD. Great warranty. Great price through Amazon, however I wish they took more care in the packaging.

    This outfit looks good and cuts good, Only 4 star because this was a gift and we we were proud to give a made in USA item, but the first time he tried to light it the striker fell apart in his hand, Miller has a good reputation for quality so why not raise the price by a few bucks and include a quality striker. Overall I would recommend this torch kit.

    Smith oxy-acetylene torches are the best on the market. This kit is unbelievable priced the torch body is priced around the same all tho this kit did not include flashback arrestors and they are VERY IMPORTANT! How ever Smith's will sell them separately and they have check valves incorporated so I don't understand why the kit includes check valves because Smith will ten you NOT use then together they will restrict the flow of gas to the torch.I strongly recommend that anyone thinking of oxy-acetylene welding or cutting to take a training course while this is fun it can be EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!

    Always bought Miller Smith products but missing pcs, different than shown on listing and defects that Miller refused to warranty. Considering trying another brand like Victor which is much cheaper but similar quality. Always bought Miller past because of Lifetime warranty but now they only offer limited no of years like other brands. So why buy Miller any longer.

    I was surprised at overall quality of this kit. It has everything you need to get started, I am purchasing flashback arrestors that are recommended in the setup manual. (Cost about 50$) As far as performance it exceeds my needs, the cutting tip is rated for 5/8" and it has no problem on 1"by 1" solid bar I tried it on! I also think the welding tip is under rated but im not great at the welding part yet. This set comes with a 3 yr warranty that is pretty good but depending on your needs you may be money ahead by getting one with a lifetime warranty.
