I bought three dog puzzles (Level 3 & 4) from different makers off of Amazon at the same time and this one is by far the best. It’s actually challenging and 5 minutes in my dog is still trying to work out the puzzle. The other two he completed in less than three minutes.

I highly recommend the Nina Ottoson for Outward Hound puzzles. High quality product, well-constructed, and actually mentally stimulating and engaging for my pup. Worth every penny!

I love this toy and so does my dog. She's a very smart dog, being a terrier, which tends to be a very intelligent breed. It's hard to find toys that she doesn't figure out within the first 5 minutes. This one kept her entertained, interested and mentally stimulated. The first time she used it, I actually had to help her a little bit by showing her the different ways that the doors slide. For the first three or four days I would fill it and sit it out for her to play with. Those first few days it took her anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes to get to all the treats. As time went on she was able to get to her treats more quickly. The good thing about this toy is that there are a lot of sliding doors covering the many treat slots and because of that, the puzzle is never solved the same way. There are so many different ways for your dog to solve the puzzle that your dog will never get bored with it. The downside of this puzzle is that it is not for large dogs with strong jaws. I dogsit for a black labrador retriever who I left alone with the puzzle while I went to another room to do some chores. When I returned, 15 minutes later, instead of solving the puzzle the lab had completely ripped the doors off of the puzzle and chewed various parts of the puzzle handles and sides. The puzzle was completely destroyed beyond repair. So if you are going to purchase this for a dog with strong Jaws/A strong chewer, I would recommend that you supervise the dog the entire time. I may even recommend against purchasing this for dogs with strong jaws because I don't think it will hold up. Bottom line this is a great quality dog puzzle that performs as the manufacturer advertises.

This is a clever toy for feeding snacks, well constructed of nontoxic material, but it's just a little more difficult to decipher for certain dogs than I thought it would be. We have a 5 year old Affenpinscher who is extremely smart, but it's very tricky for him to open the drawers with his paws because of their lack of flexibility. He paws at the drawers and eventually gets them open but it's like trying to pull something open with mittens on. It's going to take a while for him to start figuring out the locks on top. But because of these different stages of figuring out the toy, he won't get bored with it too soon and therefore it's a good durable long lasting and rewarding gift. A slight heads up - we had placed it on a thick doggie rug that was slightly raised over the floor and the drawers slant down when fully opened, so food could fall out. Not a problem when placed on a level surface. I like this designer's pet products. They're done with intelligence and with safety and health in mind.

My dog is very glued to me and hates being home alone. I think this toy is going to help keep her entertained while I’m away. First use she didn’t stop playing with it for 35mins until she got tired. Snacks don’t come out too easy so it’s best you PACK it with snacks so they get one here and there to keep them going. For reference my dog is 11lbs. I wouldn’t recommend it for bigger dogs as I predict they would be able to destroy this.

I bought this puzzle game for my Mensa level intelligence Australian Shepherd. We have had an easier "level 2" puzzle game from the same company which my dog loves but has mastered to the extent that he can uncover all the treats in less than a minute.

This is a much more complex "level 4" puzzle game that is much more challenging, especially the center dial puzzle, which requires the dog to both turn a large dial and push a slider into place to uncover a treat. The first time we used the new game my dog enthusiastically went about trying to solve the puzzles. However, after a couple minutes of trying to figure out how to move the larger green sliders, he came up with the idea of holding down the board with a paw and then biting and lifting up the slider next to the open slot. He snapped it right off the board, exposing the treat. He then proceeded to do this several more times and within a minute had all the treats for the larger, peripheral puzzle. He then did the same thing with the large central dial, but unfortunately this dial is not very durable and it cracked.
Nonetheless, within a few seconds he had those treats too.

When I was a child I was obsessed with the Rubic's Cube, which for at least a year I could not solve (there were no YouTube videos back in the early 1980s!). One day another kid told me he could easily solve it. I said 'show me' and he proceeded to take the cube apart and put it back together again, solved. This was clearly 'against the rules.' In the case of this dog puzzle, it is constructed with the idea that the dog will play by the rules of using sliders to uncover treats. However, the level 2 product we have by the same company encourages the dog to lift up flaps to reveal treats. He was trying to do the same thing with this puzzle. Smart dog!

Overall, while I recommend this company's products, I'll unfortunately have to return this puzzle as pieces should not crack under what can only be considered 'normal' use by dogs employing behaviors learned through the company's other products.
