Finding Home: Encore Edition (Starfish Bay Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 754 ratings

Believing in happy endings is foolish…or is it?

Scott Walsh has landed the biggest job in the history of Walsh Construction—and he doesn’t in-tend to blow it, despite the complications in his life. And now there’s a new distraction—widow Cindy Peterson, whose young son keeps showing up on his construction site. His hardline ap-proach to the boy’s trespassing, however, does not endear him to either mother or son. But as Scott struggles to keep the project on track while dealing with his ailing grandmother, and as Cindy grapples with a demanding project at work, the two discover that they can help each other meet their respective challenges. And along the way, might they also discover their own happy ending in the tiny Northern California town of Starfish Bay?

In this uplifting HOLT Medallion finalist, Irene Hannon once again demonstrates the power of love to heal hearts, instill hope, and transform lives.

I believe this is part of a trilogy or a series in the making. I hope the latter. The story takes place in a little coastal community in Northern California somewhere along the Pacific Coast Highway (Highway One) and is a sequel to Seaside Reunion. It begins with Jared Peterson’s encounter with a guy who seems like a mean, rude, rugged construction worker. He happens to run into him and his widowed mother at a well known restaurant in Starfish Bay after his second encounter with Jared, where he basically tattles on Jared and demands that Cindy see to it that Jared no longer go on the construction site.

Things happen that bring Cindy Peterson and Scott Walsh together, and Hannon works her magic in making them and Jared inseparable…. It’s a sweet story actually full of romantic reservation between Scott’s construction job and Cindy’s work at a nearby museum and their commitment to not get involved with each other…. The story concludes with Jared taking care of Scott’s dog Emma. Jared takes her for a walk, and she sees a squirrel, gets out of her collar, and gives chase after the squirrel. In trying to catch Emma, he gets hit by a car, lands in the hospital, and then there’s the rest of the story…. Fun reading!

An excellent example of superb storytelling. It was easy to feel right at home within the store. Thank you to an excellent author looking forward to the next book in the series.

This wasn’t a page turner and their romance was glacially slow (pre global warming glacier), but very sweet. I didn’t even mind the matchmaking aspect since it wasn’t silly or manipulative in any obvious way. Good read.

Started as an unlikely couple so it was fun to read as their relationship progressed.
I also enjoy that in this series of books the characters have an underlying relationship with God. It's almost like walking with friends as they journey through life...

A heart warming story that keeps you turning the pages. It has a lot of twist and turns and makes you feel good to have read it. Second in a series but can also be read as a stand alone.

I really enjoyed this book. Having met some of the characters in book 1 (Seaside Reunion), I was eager to read this one, and it did not disappoint. If you can read #1 first, do so, as it sets the scene so well for this one.
