The First Avenger is my upgrade from my Garmin Fenix 3HR. While it's a smaller watch in comparison, it packs more features than the 3, such as oxygenation monitoring, stress tracking and rep tracking during strength training. It's blue casing is a little underwhelming, the same for the leather band, but the touch sensitivity of the watch screen is spot on. The First Avengers also uses a more accurate hr and motion tracking sensor then the 3HR as well a longer battery life. It looks GREAT when worn and for a huge Captain America fan like myself, the design, unique goal animations and functionality make it worth the purchase alone. I love it.
One other draw for hikers. The Fenix 3HR comes equipped with a Garmin-designed hiking app that works with GPS, giving you a detailed readout on distance and location. It has the same GUI as the other Garmin designed apps. The First Avenger is missing that app, and there is no Garmin designed app available for download as of now. Because of this, I've kept my 3HR,solely for hiking. I had planned to sell my 3HR one I bought the First Avenger. If you're not a hiker or an avid hiker, it may not be big deal. I hike at least once a week, sometimes 2. The lack of a familiar look and feel of a Garmin app for hiking kind of sucks. Hopefully there will be one released soon.

After wanting this for many months, I'm glad I finally bought it
I'm a huge Captain American fan, which was the main draw for me. I've been wanting this watch for quite some time, but never pulled the trigger due to some concerns that others posted and the high price tag. It's really just the Vivoactive 4 for $120 more, so why buy this one I thought. After finally pulling the trigger (it was really a birthday gift), I'm happy I have it now.Here are some thoughts I have about the watch, after week 1:I'm coming from a Fitbit Versa that unexpectedly stopped working after owning it for 1.5 years. I loved it for the fitness/health tracking features. This watch has the same features (compared to Versa first edition) and a much better app IMO. I really like the detail of the graphs, as I'm a data nut. Going back to look at my Fitbit stats, I'm underwhelmed by the Fitbit app. I did consider getting a Versa Sense before, but I don't regret the switch to Garmin.I was initially concerned about some of the comments regarding the screen quality (pixilation) and brightness. I will say these are valid complaints, as the colors and clarity are a bit on the softer side. However, after spending some time with the watch, I'm not as bothered as I initially was.I really like that they included a leather and silicone band. The leather band works well for occasions where I want the watch to look less casual, and evokes images of the Captain America suit from the first movie. The silicone band is nice and comfortable, and works much better when I'm active as it doesn't slip on my wrist like the leather band does.Finally, the battery life is not as good as I had hoped. I believe Garmin says expect up to 7 days in smartwatch mode, but I don't get close to that. I've tweaked the display settings and made some other changes to prolong the battery life, per Garmin's suggestions, but only getting about 2 - 3 days. Also, I don't have the watch on wi-fi (for music syncing), or use GPS, so I don't know why the battery life is half of what they advertise. This is my biggest disappointment, but I can live with it (for now).Overall, I'm happy with the watch.
