Michael William Palmer has penned a book of memories, a lyrical memoir hemmed in trauma... the loss of his friends. How can that not change a person? In two nights, I kept at this author's somewhat tongue-in-cheek look at Mormon culture beyond the sound bytes we see and hear outside of church doctrine presented by Salt Lake City. Bottom line, Palmer is struggling
I struggled with my own faith at times, I still do,and I'm an ordained minister! After reading this set of short essays, I'm glad to see other do too. Without the struggle, faith can't change...We can't change. This book reflects a different generation then mine, a different culture, a different life obviously. I take as it is: a sociological take on growing up faithful/faithless and human. Recommended with caveats. 4/5
