Update: after 26 months the heating element stopped working so I bought the same model again. I really loved that they improved the accessories but the one I received seems to have been defective because it was extremely noisy. I am not sure if it is a change or that the one I received was faulty. Anyway you can see In the video that this unit should not be very noisy. It does have a fan and that’s about all the noise it creates but is not annoying or bothersome. I decided to return my second one and try another brand because I didn’t want to risk receivi in the video that this unit should not be very noisy. It does have a fan and that’s about all the noise it creates but is not annoying or bothersome. I decided to return my second one and try another brand because I didn’t want to risk Finding out that they had make some change and now they are very noisy.
However, they only last 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 years before the element stops working, after the original 1 year warranty runs out.. Wise decision to purchase the additional insurance for 3 to 4 years for Approx. $10 so when it breaks down, it will be replaced for free.. Not my first rodeo.. Also, my opinion this is better than the new wave model because the cheap plastic cover on the new wave cracks and expensive to replace them. This model has a nice study glass top.... Hope this helps my fellow shoppers...
My main thoughts that went into trying this unit are as follows. The price is half of what the other model costs and glass vs plastic. I expect both units to cook about the same - so that is a wash. The NuWave cookers are better for accessing the food because the large dome lifts off and your food is right there. With this brand, with it's small lid, means your food is still inside the large glass bottom which makes it harder to get to. The other thing I was concerned about is that the NuWave cookers have a nice little stand for their giant dome and this item has nothing to support it's top. My BIG concern about this is that the VERY HOT heating element in the lid is going to be within about an inch of whatever surface you place the lid (in other words it has a potential of damaging your counter surfaces). In my case, I have a glass-top stove so placing the lid there should be fine.
Minor update after more use: The bars on the racks are way too far apart for small foods like french fries. I think the mention that you can put one rack on top of the other to make a grid, but that means you will only be able to cook one layer of food. The bars are about 7/8" apart which means that they can barely prevent tator-tots from slipping through without making your grid with both racks. This problem could be eliminated by the company spending probably a penny or so in materials. In my case, I have a stack of various racks from previous cookers breaking and I do have a few that fit this cooker (they actually fit better than the ones that came with this unit).
