A Wired Elite Controller for a Fraction of the Price

A Wired Elite Controller for a Fraction of the Price
I waited to post my review until a couple of months to test longevity. After heavy usage (several hours per day for about 2 months) the until still holds up very well.Pros:Price for sure. It does what it says and it doesn't cost a console. Nice to hold, feels nicer than the default controller. Triggers take a bit to acclimate to but are essential once you do. It also came with some extras that I haven't used but are great to have, like the case. Chord is long enough and can be replaced or extended, so that hasn't been an issue.Cons (I'll be extra here just because there plenty of positive feedback elsewhere)This is less a con and more my own ignorance, but you can't actually map "new" commands to the triggers, only "remap" existing buttons. (For example for Halo, my triggers are mapped to replace A, B, R3, and D-Pad Up. The "face" buttons still operate as usual, which means you basically have two A buttons, etc.Two or three times my controller has had a bug where it shuts off and the triggers un-map. Granted it's super easy to remap on the go so it's not too bad, but in a game like Halo that kind of malfunction can cost a game. This appears to be happening only after a couple hundred hours of use. Same goes for the rare time you press multiple buttons at a time (In a combination a regular controller couldnt) where the input is not recognized. That may be games or the console not allowing those types of inputs through, but worth pointing out.The triggers come off by accident sometimes when the cable gets caught under them. Rare issue, but I always worry that I'll lose one or break the thin-looking locks that keep them in place.Last issue is that the trigger locks and rear triggers themselves seem to wear rather quick. They still work great, but it's easy to tell they're not as sharp or clicky as they where when I first got it.Overall, this has been one of the best purchases I've made in gaming. I think the battery savings alone have paid it over once or twice. Even if the Elite Series does hold up better, I could buy 4 of these for the price and just keep replacing them. It's a no-brainer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic controller for the money
Reviewed in the United States on July 12, 2023
Now obviously the main drawback is that this controller is wired but considering the price compared to the xbox elite controllers, it is worth it. The quality of the parts and build quality is noticeably better than a regular wireless controller. I’ve went through two of these because I really beat on these controllers; I really press the buttons hard, use a lot of force on the sticks, and drop them all the time. I have to say that these last me longer than any controller I’ve ever bought, including the first elite controller. The only complaint I have is that the quality of the wire, or female end in the controller, is of somewhat low quality and the connection ends up breaking for me after 6 or more months. The new Xbox elite series 2 controller definitely stepped it up in quality and I’m sure that will last a long time, but it is $200. This controller is cheaper than a regular Xbox controller so it’s an obvious choice.
