Liana Werner-Gray is a Certified Nutritionist and three-time Best Selling Author of The Earth Diet, Cancer-Free with Food - foreword by Mark Hyman, MD., 10-Minute Recipes, and 10-Minute Recipes, publisher Hay House, Random House/Penguin. She is currently working on her latest book Anxiety-Free with Food set to release December 2020.
Liana overcame many health issues including a tumor, chronic fatigue, digestive issues, and weight loss with nutrition, and believes that food is medicine. Having a family history of cancer is an all too real reminder of just how important your health is. While trying to educate myself on the causes of different forms of the disease and preventing them I came across Cancer Free With Food and feel blessed I did.
You can feel the passion the author Liana Werner-Gray has for the subject throughout the writing. The book provides an overwhelming amount of scientific studies, insight from doctors and medical professionals, and statistically based information in an easily digestible format. Liana has translated the scientific language and data into an easy to read book that allows you to effortlessly apply its lessons in your everyday life.
One of the things I most appreciated about Cancer Free With Food, besides the wealth of knowledge it provides, is the layout of the book. Organized in a building block fashion to empower you to take on what can be an intimidating topic. You can just as easily read the book straight through or use it as a reference guide for specific cancers, foods, and recipes. The book provides you with the fundamental knowledge of nutrition and its impact on your body and cancer. It shows you how to implement that knowledge into your life, sometimes with small changes, that have meaningful impact. Intertwined with this fact-based content are inspiring real life examples of people who overcame cancer using a holistic approach (Bill Stewart page 121 is one I found particularly motivating).
The changes prescribed in Cancer Free With Food are truly easy to incorporate and have provided a noticeable result in overall wellbeing. Perhaps the most challenging part is having the will power to break old diet choices and habits but Liana Werner-Gray has dedicated an entire chapter to overcoming just that. After reading this book, I’ve prioritized eating organic and consuming the top 15 cancer fighting foods explained in Cancer Free With Food. Personally, I make a drink daily that contains broccoli sprouts, turmeric, dark leafy greens, blueberries, flaxseed, and ginger root in a blender. It takes about 7 minutes including doing the dishes to check off 6 of these proven cancer fighting foods for the day. On top of the drink, I use another handful of the top 15 foods in meals regularly, with the extensive list of recipes provided making it truly simple.
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a nutritional foundation in life, seeking alternatives to traditional medicine in the fight with cancer, or someone looking to use both holistic and a traditional medicine approach to combatting cancer. Cancer Free With Food is a must have.
Liana Gray has a pleasant writing style, every page feels as if she is talking to you personally.
She has an extensive list of cancer fighting super foods, along with recipes.
As the years have passed Ive witnessed fusion (chemo) rooms grow, massive cancer centers being built, and have watched firsthand what the patient actually goes through just trying to stay alive. It is a fight against hell. The hell of vicious cancer cells. They ravage and destroy. They silently kill.

When my mom began her first round of chemo after being diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer, the only thing should could get down were her homemade green juices. She swore it was keeping her alive. We regularly discussed how we were going to use food to keep her on this earth.
