Great concept! Absolutely horrible design and quality!

Great concept! Absolutely horrible design and quality!
When you first open the package, you can immediately tell how poorly these are made. Unfortunately, it gets much worse from there. The battery contacts are poorly riveted to the “brass” end conductors and to the top screw terminals. The negative terminal battery spring is just loosely held under the “brass” end conductor. What you wind up with are about three separate points at the end of EACH battery compartment that are intermittently or not at all making contact. You can’t even touch the four connected battery compartments without affecting the contacts and, therefore, overall conduction. Give these to a kid in school if you want him to learn about frustration and troubleshooting the hard way.I have included photos to show what I had to do to make these in any way usable. In the first photo, I have soldered the spring and rivet to the “brass” end conductor on the negative end. On the positive end, you just have to solder the rivet to the end conductor. All surfaces have to be prepared sufficiently before soldering. But wait!! There’s more!!Since the end connectors also don’t make consistent contact with each other when you connect the compartments together, you also have to address that problem. At each connection, I had to add a piece of buss wire going directly between the screw terminals before torquing them down. Also notice that some of the terminal screws are half the length of others. This is quality import construction at its finest! It was really not even worth the time it took to make them work. This is really trash can stuff.
