The Breakup Plan: An Enemies-to-Lovers Fake Dating New Adult Sports Romance Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 675 ratings

Gray McNichols can have his pick of any girl on this campus. Just ask him and he’ll tell you that the females of Hillsdale University have a real penchant for sexy hockey players who know how to handle their sticks. All he has to do is flash a smile and they fall right onto their backs and spread their legs.

Would I happen to be one of them?

Guilty.

I made the mistake of knocking boots with Gray freshman year. After we hooked up, I never heard from him again. Not that I expected too. All right…that’s a lie. For one delusional moment, I thought I might be different. You know, the girl who changes the hockey playing bad boy for the better (cue the laughter). But he swiftly disabused me of that notion by moving on to fresh meat in the blink of an eye.

It’s the reason I’ve avoided Gray like a nasty case of crabs ever since.

That, unfortunately, becomes impossible when our parents spring their new relationship on us.

And we have to figure out a way to break them up.

Wow, just wow! I really enjoyed Whitney and Gray’s story. It was a little predictable and slow in a couple of places but overall enjoyable. My question to the author is who proofreads your books? It’s very sad when throughout the book or the main character is Grayson McNichols, but in chapter 22 all of a sudden he becomes Grayson McKinnon. Seems like you need a new proofreader, that wasn’t the only mistake just the biggest one. I am a huge fan of Jennifer‘s books and I’m sure they passed through many hands before being published so a big mistake like this just shouldn’t happen. Can’t wait for more

Jennifer Sucevic writes sweet, fun rom-coms and that is exactly what The Breakup Plan is.
Gray has quietly hidden his attraction for Whitney for 3 years, pretty much since they hooked up as freshmen. He has been a pest, teasing her and popping up as an annoyance. He has no idea how to get on her good side.
Whitney hasn't gotten over being a one-night stand 3 years ago. It's about time they get together.
Gray is sweet in a jock way. He has never been in a relationship and doesn't know how to navigate around one. Whitney is untrusting of him and rightfully so. Their reason for faking a relationship is kind of funny and who knew their true feelings would finally come out?
Gray is sweet and a bit dumb when it comes to understanding women. Whitney is a hard sell.
I loved these 2 characters. The book is fun and their road to love is sweet.

After finishing this book just now I went and looked at the date it was written as it seemed a bit juvenile for her writing style I’ve become familiar with. Yup, looks like this was an earlier book which explains a lot, thankfully.

Not knocking the book, still a good read, just not up to her current caliber of book, obviously, since this was a way earlier write. Jennifer Sucevic has definitely found her writing chops today though!

I had a hard time feeling the relationship between Grey and Whitney. He seemed SUPER immature for a 23yr old about to be drafted to the NHL and Whitney came off a bit like a goodie two shoes slightly better than everyone else. Was a weird dynamic, one I didn’t believe. They didn’t really have anything in common and their characters weren’t fleshed out even to make me believe they had chemistry.

Don’t get me wrong, Jennifer will still be an instant click for me as I’ve loved the other books I’ve read by her but this particular book fell a little short. I got into and finished pretty darn quickly but I’ve just been trained to expect more from this author.

Overall, a decent read that had potential to be a great read but, alas…it just wasn’t actualized in the end.

Gray and Whitney are a fun couple. Their banter is fun and relaxing. Whit is trying to stay strong and not show that Gray does get to her. When there parents start dating Gray coming up with a brilliant idea of telling their parents that they are dating also in hopes that the parents break up. Gray is trying to make their fake relationship real while Whit is trying to keep the lines clear. Gray has never wanted a relationship but can’t get Whitney out of his head since freshman year. Now that he has Whitney he is doing everything make her realize that they are perfect together. This is a fun book. Loved everything about it.

I really like an enemy’s to lovers book. But this was much more than that. She wasn’t super mean to him like in most e to l books. I really loved the chemistry between the two. But it also helped that the two were really likable.

I really need to remember that I'm getting to old for YA or is it NA? I've read Jennifer Sucevic before and quite enjoyed the books but I think this probably wouldn't be my favourite of her novels even if I wasn't over the genre. There are some NA that I love still but I think the difference is that there's little or no angst or it's a rom-com and I don't expect anything from the characters.Anyway it's an okay read for NA.
