The HP Prime is very fast and powerful. I believe it's one of the fastest when not the fastest graphing calculator out there. When pressing the Plot-button, you will see the graphs of the functions immediately and don't have to wait for 5-10 seconds like the TI-84. The best thing about the HP Prime is its touch screen. Try to zooming in and out or panning on other calculators and you will know what I'm speaking of. With the rise of powerful phones, pressing a combination of keys just to zoom or pan the window is a pain of the past. Of course, the screen of the Prime is still small compared to a phone screen but for children with smaller and dexter fingers, they can handle it comfortably.
The textbook-mode is also fantastic. You can enter equations and formulas just like printed on paper, which helps enormously to quickly verify your input. But if mass calculation is required, one can switch to the RPN-mode and do not need to worry about correct parenthesis anymore.
The compute algebra system (CAS) of the Prime is quite powerful. Not only it can simplify, expand and collect formulas, one can also attain roots and extrema of equations and functions using the built-in solver. In fact, my son uses the CAS mode very often to check his homework to make sure there was no mistake. Moreover, symbolic integral and differential are no problem with this calculator.
The Prime has a lot more advanced functions like matrix calculation, solving of differential equations or statistics. If the numerous built-in functions are still not enough, one can even program the HP Prime to do new thing using the Pascal programming language!
On the negative site, HP Prime can be complex and sometimes confusing for not so experienced users. When in a "wrong" screen (e.g. normal home screen), one still can access all other functions but the system would do nothing except re-print the command. If the system can issue a warning or print additional information, it will be definitely more helpful. But there, the unique on-site help feature can be immensely valuable.
All in all, highly recommended if you want to invest for the future.
PS: what I got from Amazon is a Latin America edition with no English manual (nowhere indicated on the website!). But on the included CD, you can find the PDF file for English (or other languages) manuals. The model and the firmware are the latest one at the time of this review.

Pros: it’s fast, big, rechargeable, high quality, touchscreen, easy to use, you can update the OS, and it has nice buttons that click when pressed
Cons: the screen resolution could better, and would be good if it had wifi
It is totally worth the money!

1- A capa deslizante é muito justa, assim, torna-se difícil removê-la para abrir ou fechar a calculadora. Isso melhora com o tempo, quando as travas plásticas se desgastam, mas, até lá, prepare-se para sofrer um pouco;
