Featured in Elmer’s World of Glue Teaching Guide Winner: 2016 Montana Treasure State Award. Nominee: NY State Charlotte Award list, 2015-16. Alabama Camellia Award list 2014-15, Grade 2-3 Division. Although Matty's art teacher has warned him that too much glue never dries, Matty loves glue. After all, he and his dad make oodles of glue projects at home. One day during art class, Matty finds the fullest bottles of glue, and the fun begins. With a squeeze and a plop, Matty pours a lake of glue before belly-flopping right in the middle and finds himself stuck to the desk. When Matty's dad arrives at the school, instead of being mad, he celebrates his son's creativity and calls him a work of art. With vibrant language and artwork and a wild, silly plot, Too Much Glue is sure to appeal to all children

I got this book to use with my kindergarten students when learning to use glue. The story and illustrations are fun and kept my students engaged.
It’s a great way to get small children to use just enough glue for art activities.

I enjoyed reading this book. Loved the repetition of the rhyming words. Kid interaction 100%. Great book for art talk.

I'm a K-5 Elementary School Art Teacher in NYC, and I have been reading this smart, funny and delightful book for at least five years to nearly ALL of my students! The story is engaging and full of potential rich questions for students. It's easy to understand, and even keeps you on the edge of your seat. Because it's been so popular at my school, I've been able to make the entire story last up to a full period of 45 minutes, with time for wrap-up and even some drawing. It's one of those stories that the more you read, the more it gives back. A definite great investment!

Matty loves glue. He and his dad use glue all the time at home. At school, the teacher does not want him to use too much glue. But Matty cannot resist and puts glue all over his desk along with sparkles and bangles and all kinds of shiny things then he jumps in. He expects to get off his desk but he cannot. So what is he to do? What help will his friends give him? Can the nurse or principal help? Will he get home after school?

I loved this book. Matty is so cool. I love the solutions his friends come up with but they only add to the mess on Matty. I love his dad's solution. It's simple and easy. Matty is one of a kind. So are his parents.

The illustrations are bright and colorful. Your child will love this book but keep the glue hidden.

This story, with its dynamic illustrations, captivates 2nd grade classes. I set it on the white board in the morning, and students look forward to reading "Too Much Glue" all through the day. As a substitute teacher, it is one of my best positive-discipline strategies: we accomplish our assignments, then we can read!
Among the second-grade set, "Too Much Glue" is imminently relatable; who of us hasn't experienced our own glue-disasters? And best of all, it motivates the imagination. What if a student did get stuck into his gluey art project? What would it feel like? How would he get out?
I miss whimsical childhood! With the reading of this fiction, I get to bring imagination, creativity, and playfulness back into the classroom.
