About the author

Yrsa Daley-Ward is an author, actor, model, and screenwriter of mixed Jamaican and Nigerian heritage. Hailing from the northwest of England, Yrsa draws inspiration heavily from her own experiences and issues affecting our behaviour and quality of life and love. Yrsa interweaves each discipline to fuse poetry with theatre, music, and storytelling and has been writing for as long as she can remember. She is most known for her debut book, Bone, Penguin Books, as well as for her live poetry performances. Her autobiographical novel, The Terrible, was published in 2018, by Penguin and in 2019, it won the PEN/Ackerley Prize. Her newest book, The How, is out on November 2nd, 2021. Yrsa also co-wrote Black Is King, Beyoncé's musical film and visual album, which also serves as a visual companion to the 2019 album The Lion King: The Gift. Her work has appeared in many publications worldwide, including Vogue, Elle, Harpers Bazaar, Dazed, and Notion.
