Your world has changed. Someone special is missing.

How do you do this? What does this mean? Who are you now? What’s next?

Multiple award-winning author, speaker, and grief specialist Gary Roe experienced multiple, devastating losses in childhood.

Gary says, "By the time I was a teenager, I was slogging through each day carrying a massive amount of grief. Then my dad dropped in front of me of a heart attack. He was a single father and my one functional parent. When this lightning bolt struck, I thought my life was over."

Then Gary picked up a pen and started writing. The next day, he wrote some more.

"I found myself emoting as I wrote. Sadness, confusion, anger, fear, anxiety, and guilt spewed out of me, one word at a time. I felt lousy, but expressing what was inside me felt good and relieving."

Unfortunately, the losses just kept coming. And Gary kept writing.

Now, almost a half-century and 20 books later, Gary gives us a gift - a unique grief workbook born of his extensive personal and professional experience of using writing as a tool to recover from the losses of life.

Whether you're an avid journal writer or have never used writing to process difficult events, you'll find the
Grieving the Write Way Journal and Workbook a heartfelt, compassionate, and practical resource for your grief journey.

In
Grieving the Write Way, you'll learn...
  • The role writing can play in your grief and healing process.
  • How writing can steady your heart enough to express your emotions in a productive way.
  • How writing can slow your mind down enough to get your thoughts on paper and begin to process them.
  • To practice writing as a safe place to express and process questions, doubts, and fears.
  • To use writing as an avenue to vent frustrations about your relationships in an honest and uncensored manner.
  • How to use writing to work through your thoughts, wonderings, and concerns about the future.
Writing can become a powerful habit that can help us navigate life in general. What we don’t express stays locked in our hearts and often becomes the baggage that weighs us down.

Grieving the Write Way is about you and the terrible loss you’re enduring. It was written to help you...
  • Express your heart, mind, and soul.
  • Navigate the relational changes and upsets you’re facing.
  • See that you’re not alone, you’re not crazy, and that you will make it through this.
  • Take the next steps in your grief process, whatever they might be.
In these pages, you’ll get many opportunities to experience the benefits of writing about your loss and what’s happening in your heart and mind.

Take the next step. Read on...and write.

The book is a very helpful tool in knowing and understanding the pressures of grieving in America today!

This is not your standard grief book. This book has questions and places in it for your thoughts and emotions to be written down. There are small devotional-like paragraphs to help you think about the topics and then lots of space to write in. At first i was not thrilled with the concept of writing out what i felt or thought. I did not enjoy it, my words were not positive. But the more i answered the prompts on the pages, more i found myself thinking about happy times and memories and i ended up buying a separate journal to write all those down in as i work through Gary's book. There are also good helps and suggestions along the way, mixed into the chapters that i found very useful. There is one section that deals with religion, but only one chapter, so if that is not your thing realize that it is in there. I would still recommend the book - you could skip that chapter entirely. This will help anyone who is dealing with grief, even if you aren't a writer, or don't have the practice of journaling. I would highly recommend this book.

This book has been extremely helpful to me as I process my grief. It has very short, easy to read passages about certain topics that come up in grief. I have been skipping around in mine to whatever section I think might be helpful to me on any given day. I actually contacted Gary to get recommendations for other books of his that may help with my loss, and he was very prompt and kind in his response. It is clear he has experience both as a person who has/is grieving and with helping others who are grieving. I highly recommend this resource.

A wonderful resource for both one going through a loss and one who leads or resources Grief Support Groups. I have been leading and resourcing Grief Support Groups for close to 30 years. This book very succinctly goes to the topics that need to be dealt with and gives one a place to write out their feelings and thoughts. This is a workbook "full of healing." It takes you from where you currently are and helps you look to the future. As you "Walk Your Road" through recovery you can look back to see how far you have come. I highly recommend Gary Roe's "Grieving the Write Way." to anyone going through a loss.

I was a year into grieving before I read a publication by Gary Roe that I swear was written just for me. I have read several of his wonderful books since but there is something about journaling that heals the heart. I highly recommend this no matter what part of the grief journey a person is on.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow, even better than I expected. Perhaps Gary Roe's best ever book.

I shall write a more detailed post on Gary Roe's website but I bought this as soon as it was released and it just arrived. I thought I'd skim through and highlight what I needed most right now but almost highlighted the whole book!

I searched everywhere for grief support, books and journals and best I got was so generic and limited I ended up just writing in plain notebook but having discovered Gary's amazing work just a few months ago I was so excited this was about to be released and it had well surpassed expectations!!

There is not one part of the devastating affect grief has on every part of your being that Gary hasn't covered so for each there are questions and prompts, help to explore poetry and in particular I love the letter writing prompts as I've only even saw write to loved one before but the idea of writing (not sending) to the living who have for example let us down is amazing and this isn't just prompted journal, it does not leave you confused or feeling worse as Gary writes in each section words of guidance and encouragement around each topic and it is so short to pick one and chose what way to work through depending where your grief is.

I'd have been lost without journals since my partner recently passed away however I couldn't quite find one that helped until now.........amazing supported guided journal which even if you haven't thought of before at least download free kindle sample and you will soon see why you need to buy this book. It can be difficult but is also very healing and my only problem now is where to start!!!!

Thanks again to Gary Roe, he just totally gets it and meets you wherever you are in your grief, for whoever you have lost and whatever your faith.

Even for someone who has always journalled this is outstanding so for anyone thinking about it, don't, just go for it as no need to follow exactly, take what may help you and you will surprise yourself how healing this can be.

Sorry to all other authors or publishers of "grief journals" this is well above their league.

5.0 out of 5 stars A holistic approach to grief and heartache
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 9, 2021
Gary Roe's first workbook/journal Grieving The Write Way offers a holistic framework for understanding the particular ways that grief is impacting you.

My favourite aspect of GTWW is the fact that Roe has taken the time to examine the impact loss might have on an individual’s spiritual outlook. This sets GTWW apart from other grief journals, where the focus is often solely limited to the emotional impact.

Grieving The Write Way is an indispensable practical, supportive aid in coming to terms with loss.
