THE INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER!

Starred reviews from Kirkus Reviews * Publishers Weekly * Library Journal

Named a “Must-Read” by TODAY, Us Weekly, Bustle, BuzzFeed, Goodreads, Entertainment Weekly, Publishers Weekly, Southern Living, Book Riot, Woman’s Day, The Toronto Star, and more!

For two sworn enemies, anything can happen during the Hawaiian trip of a lifetime—maybe even love—in this romantic comedy from the New York Times bestselling authors of Roomies.

Olive Torres is used to being the unlucky twin: from inexplicable mishaps to a recent layoff, her life seems to be almost comically jinxed. By contrast, her sister Ami is an eternal champion...she even managed to finance her entire wedding by winning a slew of contests. Unfortunately for Olive, the only thing worse than constant bad luck is having to spend the wedding day with the best man (and her nemesis), Ethan Thomas.

Olive braces herself for wedding hell, determined to put on a brave face, but when the entire wedding party gets food poisoning, the only people who aren’t affected are Olive and Ethan. Suddenly there’s a free honeymoon up for grabs, and Olive will be damned if Ethan gets to enjoy paradise solo.

Agreeing to a temporary truce, the pair head for Maui. After all, ten days of bliss is worth having to assume the role of loving newlyweds, right? But the weird thing is...Olive doesn’t mind playing pretend. In fact, the more she pretends to be the luckiest woman alive, the more it feels like she might be.

With Christina Lauren’s “uniquely hilarious and touching voice” (
Entertainment Weekly), The Unhoneymooners is a romance for anyone who has ever felt unlucky in love.

One of our 10 best romances of 2017. A+.” ― Entertainment Weekly

What a Great Beach Read!

What a Great Beach Read!
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨Spice: 🔥I read this book in one sitting and absolutely loved it! It was such a fun, easy read with engaging characters and great pacing. The plot was predictable, but the way that Ethan and Olive were written, made me enjoy it immensely despite that fact. Ans smile for almost the whole book at their banter.Ethan is the grumpy brother of Olive’s twin sister Ami’s fiancé, and they have never seemed to get along. But when disaster strikes at Ami’s wedding, Olive and Ethan must go on Ami’s honeymoon together or let it go to waste. Once they get to beautiful Hawaii, they learn more about each other and suddenly the pretend honeymoon starts to feel real.I loved the enemies to lovers trope in this, and combined with fake dating and a gruff hero who isn’t good with his words, this was the literal trifecta of perfect tropes. I also have never read a book where I related more to the main female character, so Olive is on my list of favorites! (And my husband is basically Ethan, down to the math-related job and fear of buffets 😂)This one was less spicy than I usually read, but I didn’t find myself disappointed by that. I enjoyed reading Ethan and Olive’s love story too much to miss the spice. If you love beachy fun reads that are low angst and fast-paced, then you are definitely going to love this one!

I'm the kind of girl that sticks with what she knows. Parks in the same parking space at Walmart, buys the same exact shampoo over and over, you get what I mean. I have a book genre and I never ever venture out of my genre. I love historical fiction. Repeat LOVE it. However, 2023 change happened. I read a thriller. I read a couple of paranormal mysteries. I read something witchy. I read some modern novels. I even read one of the fantasy wolfy books. (IYKYK). Somewhere along the line I came across The Unhoneymooners and was turned onto a whole new genre and I kind of like it. (insert blushing winkie emoji). I laughed. I cried. I blushed. I blushed with one eye closed and read that part(s) again. I thoroughly loved LOVED this book. So much that I've bought it for others, recommended it to many and have read 11 others of its kind. Please buy The Unhoneymooners. Honestly you will not regret it. You will let your dinner burn and your kids stay up late because you won't want to put it down. It's that good. I repeat, buy it. But it now. You're welcome 😊

Everyone at Olive Torres’ twin sister, Ami’s wedding got deathly ill the reception — who has a seafood buffet for a few hundred guests?! — except Olive (allergic to seafood) and the groom’s brother, Ethan (opposed to buffets). Also known as Olive’s mortal enemy.

But there’s a free trip for two — ten days on the island of Maui up for grabs while the newlyweds recover. Ami, the bride, wants Olive to go; Dane, the groom, wants his brother, Ethan to take it.

Guess they’ll have to go together and pretend to be happy newlyweds.

And listen, Olive needs this. Besides the general belief that she’s unlucky, she’s been laid off, she can’t afford her apartment anymore, and, well, Ethan.

Agreeing to a truce, the two jet off across the ocean for the chance at a once in a lifetime trip. And honestly, once there, both realize it’s so much easier to get along than to hold a grudge…over what, they can no longer remember.

But alas, that bad luck Olive is sure she’s got, follows her to the island and back to the mainland where she realizes she’s going to have to break her sister’s heart, while potentially driving Ethan away at the same time.

It’s fey and fun, a forced proximity romcom that mostly works. A little tedious at times but you’ll be rooting for the right guys.

Hilarious love story that I read in a day, very fast and good read
Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2019
STORY | For her entire life, Olive Torres has been the “unlucky” one. The twin of a sister who’s the exact opposite, Olive is about to stand beside her sister, Ami as she says her ‘I Dos’ at a wedding made possible because Ami won it all almost entirely through contests or raffles. But things go from perfect bliss to worse when Ami, her new husband, and the *entire* wedding party and its guests become ill with food poisoning. Well, all except for two
people.

Olive is sparred, and Ethan, the best man, brother of the groom, and the one man Olive cannot tolerate. But Ami begs Olive to go on the honeymoon trip she is unable to take (because obviously, the trip is non-refundable), and just pretend to be her. Sounds doable, but Olive isn’t so keen on the idea (she cannot lie). Then Ethan is also urged to go, and he does… which in turn makes Olive change her mind. After all, she’s not about to let Ethan have all the fun!

As the first book I’ve read by the team Christina Lauren, I’ll be honest and say I didn’t really know quite what to expect. I *liked* this one, but I don’t think I can say I loved it. Is it fun? Absolutely. But the payoff comes a little *too* late in my book. The novel begins in a kind of only-in-the-movies (or in this case, a fictional novel) would this scenario happen and morphs into a story that tries to be one part deeper character study.

REVIEW | Like its cover art, "The Unhoneymooners" is a fun, frothy and silly little story written by the author duo that is Christina Lauren. With its summer-y vibes and a plot that sounds straight out of a laugh-out-loud romantic-comedy, this is one of those novels that is (or this is my image of the setting) perfect beach reading.

I’m all for a novel that digs into something that packs more of an emotional punch (when needed), but I’m not sure this one does it quite right. I’m glad it goes down how it does with the ultimate conclusion (because, really, the dude in question needed to be given the business), but it falls a little flat for me. That said, what is fun about this one *is* quite fun.

I like Olive and Ethan fine, and in fact feel like Olive is a smart, but sassy heroine unlike anyone I’ve met recently on the pages of a novel. Ethan is likable, but I cannot say I have feelings that are good or bad towards him either way. He does come full circle, which gives him a gold star, but I don’t really love how the whole we-have-to-break-up pages before the end trope goes down.

Despite what this tirade may sound like, I did enjoy "The Unhoneymooners". It takes place in a really pretty setting, and features characters we can root for (along with one or two we loathe – for good reason!), and has a conclusion I suspect any reader will feel happy with. Do I think I’ll go out and purchase all of Christina Lauren’s books? No, but I also will give another of theirs a chance. Hopefully with a story that works a little bit better.

Content note: The Unhoneymooners is secular fiction, so it’s a hard PG-13 rating. There’s sex, innuendo and other suggestive comments or descriptions. The F-word is used at least a dozen (probably more) time over the 350+ pages (both in and out of context), there’s other uses of profanity like sh*t, etc. The story deals with lying, and being unfaithful as well.

I am not a big reader. So many books cause me to lose interest, but this book was an exception! I couldn't/didn't want to put it down. I stayed up way too late, many nights, because I was so invested. It's light and airy. Reminds me of a Rom-Com movie.

I loooooovvveeee Olive, she’s fun, quirky and full of humour. The banter in this book is chefs kiss 💋 Olive attends her twin sisters wedding where she comes head-to-head with Ethan, the grooms brother. Olive has declared him enemy no.1 After a disaster wedding, the whole wedding party ends up sick except Olive and Ethan… who then are elected to go on the all paid honeymoon that was won through a competition. Olive and Ethan are faced with pretending to be the happy newly married couple.
