A Court of Honey and Ash (The Honey and Ice Series Book 1) Kindle Edition
I’m still just Alli, aka the half-human orphan fae, but my life is looking up for the first time. It only took me my whole 24 years.
But when Underhill—the ancestral home of the fae—shatters, making it impossible for any fae to enter, I’m the only one who knows who did it.
A secret that will be the death of me if I do nothing.
A brutal madness spreads through the fae as they lose their connection to Underhill, and to save my people, my only choice is to leave all I have fought for and go on the run.
Unless I figure out how the hell magic that has existed since the dawn of time was destroyed with a single touch, well, an entire life spent fighting to prove myself isn’t going to mean anything at all.I must find the answer to the riddle of Underhill’s shattering.
Hunted by the very man I loved once upon a time.
If you love Jennifer L. Armentrout, Sarah J. Mass, Holly Black or Elise Kova, you will love this dive into a world of the fae, forbidden love, and a story that will leave you breathless for more.

If you’re a huge fan of authors Jennifer L. Armentrout, Sarah J. Mass, Holly Black or Elise Kova, then this trilogy is definitely for you! ALL the characters in this series are fantastic, both main and secondary, with awesome heroes and villainous villains. The storyline is complex, intriguing, with unpredictable twists and turns, and the world building is otherworldly and magical! (Wow! What a mouthful!)
You will definitely fall in love with the MC’s - Kallik of No House and Faolan, Grandson of Lugh, and their fight against the evil that is threatening to take over the world. Their paths have been intertwined from the day they were born, the only problem is that she’s a Seelie mutt and he’s an Unseelie Fae, and the mixing between the two courts is strictly forbidden.
This book is nail biting, action packed and a definite page turner!
I read this as part of the Indie Accords Readathon which is a readathon to encourage people to read more indie. I have read a few Fae books in my time and have moved away from them as I've gotten older but this one I had to pick up.
I liked the take on this one though not a fan of the title. I understand it, and it fits with the premise, but it's too Maas-y for me.
I liked that it was set in our world, both authors are great at incorporating the fantastical with our mundane world.
This was a good first book in the series for lovers of fae YA romance. It has action from the jump, a bit of mystery and a great ensemble cast I'm looking forward to learning more about.
The mystery aspect of this is interesting and I look forward to seeing where they take this. I have theories...
I'm rating this a 3.5. I know this is only the first in the series amd there was a lot of setting up and precursors for what is to come but I think I wanted more closure or a couple of plot arcs closed off. I just wanted... more
Will definitely be continuing the series in September.
Kallick is half Seelie far and human and has a secret. Lan is Unseelie fae and has been in and out of Kallick’s life. There path’s are entwined and this is the start of their story.
It is a great read. Fast paced, action a plenty, wonderful characters and world.
I cannot wait for the next instalment.
In saying that, the book overall storyline is good, and if another edit or two/update is done it would be an excellent 5 stars. Pre ordered book 2 in anticipation, just hope it’s edited more before being released
I enjoyed the concept of where the honey and ash title came from and I am excited to see where the story goes from here.

From the start you are glued to it. I actually read this book on 6th July 2021 and the other two, as soon as I bought them!! So this review is more of an update!!
This tale grips you from the very first page and you cannot help but fall in love with Faolan, but I warn you, with Alli....aka Kallic....who ends up in an orphanage once her mother died. Her father refused to claim her and sends his guards to ensure that she remains a secret!!
She is a survivor but more than that a fighter. She takes charge of her life and works hard to become an Elite. More importantly, to become independent with a home, stipend, a status, choice of whatever job she wishes to have and a pride born of hard work, respect and a fierce self worth she never had before!!
What could possibly go wrong, after getting everything she yearned for, stability!!
If you want the answers, then don't dilly dally!! Go to the store and buy this book!!
Below is the update!!
****Added Review****
I've only just bought the audios, for all of the books in this series!! So today I read and listened to this!!
I love to be able to read and listen to the books. The reason is that the right narrator can, and often does, bring all of the characters life and injecting them with a personality that takes the book to new and enjoyable heights!!
However, there is a serious issue as it appears that the narrator was given a different script!! There are pages that just aren't in the book at all!! Also pages of other parts written in chapter two, are actually found to be in chapter three, and they don't really fit in within that part!!
Regardless, it's still worth the money to buy both, as the narrator Elizabeth Evans is one of the very best narrators around. Yet again she certainly makes any book she narrates, one that is worth twice as many stars and it's a shame I can't give them here!!
So ignoring the odd missing sentence and vice versa and obviously chapter two and three. And not forgetting, that they lead us through two different occasions that Alli almost......
Well like I said you'll need to buy both and they really are worth it.
Excellent writing ladies and an excellent performance from Elizabeth,
WELL DONE LADIES 👏👏
