I originally hesitated on this due to the price, but the cuteness won me over. As anticipated, I love that the container has both a lid that "seals" the container AND a spill guard to prevent the snack from coming out when shaken by a wild little boy. I don't know if our lid is slightly defective, but it doesn't completely snap tight. There is a little bit of wiggle between closed and the point where it is definitely going to open. In other words, it is not quite as airtight as I'd like. However, it is easy for our 1 year old son to open and close it by himself. The spill guard is great, but it did make it a little difficult for him to get snacks out. Our help was required after it was about 1/2 empty to prevent him from getting frustrated, but that wouldn't be a problem for an older child. I actually appreciated that it was not extremely easy, because it prolonged the snack and entertainment.
The design, of course, is very cute....and honestly...part of the reason that it is probably so engaging/entertaining for little ones. While my husband and I were prepared for a recent flight with our 1 year old (toys, books, etc), we were surprised to find that the most entertaining thing that we had was this snack container. He loved to open/close the lid, shake to hear the cereal rattle, and work to fish out a snack. It ended up being our lifeline at times. If you have kids you'll understand...
Overall: Cute snack container with nice attached lid AND a spill guard. Not completely airtight, but entertaining enough to overlook that (and the higher price tag). Also, the container is a very good size (holds a surprising amount) and the handles are great for little hands.
