---|---|---|---|
Customize Your ViewA side adjustable rheostat allows the user to quickly adjust the color and brightness of the Mil-Dot reticle. Adjust the reticle to green for easier targeting in bright atmosphere. Select the red reticle when targeting in lowlight or indoor situations. |
Glare ReductionA built-in angled sunshade helps minimize glare on the objective lens, which in turn provides a clearer view to the user. This sunshade also works to reduce scope glint when targeting in sunny atmosphere. |
Locked InExternal windage and elevation turrets allow the user to quickly adjust the impact point without needing to remove turret caps. Tighten the collar around the turret to ensure the turret is locked in order to prevent any unintentional adjustments. |
CoversTwo flip-up scope caps help prevent dust buildup and moisture on the lenses during storage and transport. These covers quickly open at the touch of a thumb, and can be accessed ambidextrously. |

But, as I have stated in the title, this if by far the best Barska scope I have owned. I believe that every product should be rated against its peers, so I won't waste your time comparing it to my Remington 700P's Leupold VX-3 or an ACOG that I have used during my time in the military. I will compare it to similarly priced (Bushnell, UTG, etc), budget scopes and optics.
In that regard, this scope is AMAZING. The lenses are crystal clear and the whole package is very well built. My only complaint would be that it is quite heavy, but I think I this ends up being a tribute to its sturdy construction.
As some others have noted, the 1x is not exactly 1x. It is close, but not spot on... I would say about 1.05x to 1.1x. It is close enough that you can shoot with both eyes open for about 10 to 20 seconds before your vision starts messing up. It works for initial engagements, but you eventually have to close your non-dominant (support) eye during sustained shooting. It's not perfect, but for about $100, it's pretty darn close.
I have had the opportunity to bring this particular scope to the range twice since mounting it on my Colt LE6940 and have put nearly 1,000 rounds through it. It has not came loose from its rails and has not lost zero. My testing has been pretty extensive including rapid firing and rough transitions into different shooting positions. At one point, I even knocked my weapon onto the ground from the bench while working on a shooting position with my aforementioned Remington 700P. There is a nice scuff in the scope's housing from the fall, but it maintained zero...Kudos to Barska.
I didn't make this purchase lightly. I watched several YouTube videos bashing the scope, but read other reviews praising it. When Amazon offered a $20 discount, I made the purchase and am happy that I did.
In one such YouTube review, the reviewer (in two separate videos) complained that it lost zero after about 60 rounds multiple times. I use Lock-Tite on everything that I attach to any of my weapons' rail systems, so I am guessing that might be where he failed.
The crosshairs are very fine (which I prefer). The red/green lighting makes seeing the crosshairs easier in low light (as well as during the day). The view is incredibly clear, even when zoomed to the maximum 4x. The eye relief is excellent.
I would say that the only complaint that I have about this scope is that I actually mounted it backwards the first time. With the lens covers attached, it is pretty easy to mix it up (especially when you get excited about new toys like I do). The problem is that you can actually see through the scope and see the crosshairs from the other side in 1x zoom...though it appears somewhat fuzzy. Until I caught my error, I was pretty disappointed with the scope. Afterwards, I love it.
Bottom Line: If you are looking for an amazing budget optic, you can't go wrong with this one.
1). First of all read the whole manual before attempting to do anything else. It's one page. You can handle it.
2). Yup, eye relief isn't great. You get about 2.5 inches. That's still enough to mount on my .308 safely and not worry about the scope making contact with me when I shoot. I did have to mount it all the way back on my rail, so it's not sitting directly over the receiver, but it works.
3). If you're mounting this on a real gun, not an air soft toy, use blue lloctite on the threads when you attach it to the rail. Find the proper tool and tighten it up good. Then, your scope won't come lose, regardless of the caliber.
4). Expect this to work well for short-barreled guns for short to medium-range shots. You're not going to shoot 1000 yard shots with a 4x. It just ain't gonna happen. You can probably do about 300, 500 if you're a Marine. If you think you're Chris Kylie and you need to get into a lot more scope, there are affordable, no-frills hunting type scopes made by Barska also sold on Amazon that will do just fine.
5). I like this as a good scope for a scout or brush gun. I'm not great with a rifle and do not expect to engage past 100-200 yards, especially in the wooded, forest terrain where I live. The illumination will come in handy in darker, wooded areas. I would trust it for deer and medium-sized game at the aforementioned range.
6) it's super easy to mount and super easy to adjust. As noted, read the manual.
Hope all this helps. Enjoy!

Negative: 1X is not a true 1X - there is a slight magnification at this setting, but you should still be able to use it with both eyes open at CQ. The description hints that this scope can be set up and used to cowitness with your iron sights. There is not enough eye relief on this scope to allow for this type of setup to work (and you would need true 1X for this to be effective anyway).
I agree with other reviewers on using blue Locktite on the threads of the mount hardware. This is just good general practice with any scope mount used on centerfire rifles. As of this writing, I've only fired a couple hundred rounds of standard M855 62gr 5.56 ammo using the scope, but the scope mount is solid and I have not experienced any shifting of zero. I would not hesitate to recommend this scope to a friend.

Scope can be used even if the batteries are dead which is a huge bonus. The only negative is it's got a little weight to it but for what you get that wasnt enough to warrant losing a star, now it's not a top level scope but if you expect a top level scope for this price your off your rocker and need professional help.
