Product Description
In this action-packed Dungeons & dragons card game, you win by being the last adventurer standing. Play as one of four brave, quirky characters—barbarian, paladin, Rogue, or wizard—battling it out in a dungeon full of treasure! With magic missiles flinging, dual daggers slinging, and spiked shields dinging, it's up to you to prove your adventurer has the Guts to bring home the glory! Illustrations created by Kyle ferrin in the four decks of cards represent sutha the skullcrusher (Barbarian), azzan the mystic (Wizard), Lia the radiant (paladin), and oriax the clever (Rogue). pick one of these characters and play their mighty power cards such as azzan’s vampiric touch to swap hit points with an opponent or sutha’s whirling axes to heal yourself while dealing crushing damage to the rest of the party.

FUN FOR ALL
Play for hours, or play for ten minutes. Each deck and each game is wildly different.
The rules are mind-blowingly simple. Here’s how to play:
|
|
|
---|---|---|
Players choose one of four decks and draw three cards. Then they take turns, going clockwise. |
Each turn, a player draws a card and plays a card. |
Players begin the game with ten hit points, and when those run out, they’re out of the game. Last one standing wins! |
Meet the heroes:
|
|
|
|
---|---|---|---|
Prepare for Justice!A sun-elf Paladin, Lia wears a smile on her face and perfectly polished armor. Attacking and healing as she goes, Lia is nearly impossible to take down. She’s a one woman, sword swinging, vengeance machine! |
His sly smile will be the last thing you see.A cunning tiefling rogue, Oriax plays to win. With an endless onslaught of throwing daggers, Oriax empties his hand and rapidly re-draws cards, staying on the attack. He’s got a mean bag of tricks, wearing clever disguises and pick-pocketing cards from other players. |
Sutha Skullcrusher does what halforc Barbarians do best. Crush! No opponent can stand in the way of her aggressive onslaught, and no one can dish out more damage. Don’t try those fancy card tricks! Sutha isn’t shy to bash her opponents’ heads together, throwing well laid plans in the trash. |
This Red Wizard of Thay means business.Azzan draws loads of cards and then unleashes the full might of his spell book. The most cunning players wielding Azzan can outwit their opponents, while some will just get caught in their own fireball. Azzan has mastered a multitude of spells, and added his own twist. |

Only problem I have is the fact that the base game comes with a container that has enough slots for the expansion decks but they still make you purchase those decks seperately. There should be a version availiable with all the decks in one purchase rather than buying the base game then 2 expansions packs. In one sense if you're on a budget this design allows you to break up your purchases and buy them later on when you have the money to afford the expansion packs rather than dropping all the money at once. On the other hand its pretty annoying for someone like me who didn't realize this until after I got home with the base game I had bought from a local comic shop and then realized i only had half the decks. Because my comic shop didnt have the expansions I then had to wait several days in order to obtain the full game.
It's fun as a two-player game, and better with more. The expansions add new gameplay elements, and I like them, but THIS IS THE BEST SET TO START WITH, as the others are either limited (the 2 character expansion) or geared to many more players (the Monster set).
Overall, I can't recommend it enough. Fun, easy to learn, super portable, fast games... I've bought sets for other people as gifts and they've all loved it. Top choice.
So basically -
It’s incredibly straightforward and very fast-paced game. The symbols are clear and knowing what each one does becomes second nature, it’s a very fun game, a little chaotic just like D&D should be. But get the expansion packs after you play a few times if you plan on playing it again with the same players.
First of all, it's easy to learn. No complex rules. It's easy enough for my 7-year-old to play. We have played about a dozen times and generally have a great time.
I have also played one-on-one with my wife and we've enjoyed it. I've taken it to play at a friend's house for New Year's Eve. We all had a good time.
Now I do have a few complaints. The first is the quality of the material used for the cards. After a few plays, the edges started to get dinged up a bit more than I thought they should. There isn't a lot of coating on them to protect them from damage. I wish I would have put the cards in some sleeves before letting the kids play. But life goes on.
I think the wizard may be overpowered as he has a lot of abilities to totally kill everyone. Everyone does have a few cards that can make or break their game, but the wizard has "fireball" that damages EVERYONE and I've used it to completely wipe out people. Especially if I happen to have a few cards that let me play multiple ... play your strengths, I suppose.
I wish, also, they would release more characters and/or more abilities on these original cards. Expand the playability. I can see the kids getting bored playing the same four characters over and over.
BUT overall I'm happy with the purchase. Already had a lot of playtime with it and I can't complain. It's cheap enough so I feel I may have already gotten our money's worth.
In the end, great buy, fun game. Just expect wear and tear right of the box as well as feeling you've already played the exact game after half-dozen hands.
UPDATE
So, after playing the game several times with my boys I realized I needed to create a dice system to keep them from ganging up on one person - primarily on the youngest. What I've had to do is on any attack rolls they roll a d4 that determines whom they hit. Otherwise, there are just angry kids who feel like the game was all about killing them.

Gameplay is straightforward (as well as a rulesheet each deck has a reference card explaining what every symbol represents); you have one card with a counter that represents your HP, and every card you play lets you attack another player, put up some shields, heal yourself, or play or draw more cards (plus other effects). The goal is just to knock other players' HP to zero and be the last one standing.
I've played this with my kids, in 2 player games and 4 player games, and it's easy enough that even the 5 year old can join in. 4 player games can last a good 20 minutes, but in a 2 player match it can be over very quickly (best of 3?).
Whether or not you like the art work is a matter of taste, but I think it's wonderful. The drawings are sketchy but full of energy and character, with well chosen colour palettes. Though the gameplay is not like a tabletop RPG, the characters are based on those archetypes (rogue, paladin, etc) and the attacks are usually drawn from that world too (fireball, call lighting, stolen potion, and so on).
If you like card games or board games, and are looking for something quick and fun that won't take up much space, you can't go wrong with this.
The only criticism I can give, is although the cards have a similar quality and texture to Pokémon cards and the like, the edges seem to want to wear away very quickly. So handle with care!
