Product Description

OXO Good Grips Trigger Ice Cream Scoop

Amazon.com

Push the hard plastic "trigger" on this chrome-headed scoop and a band of metal slides beneath the ice cream to neatly deposit a 2-1/4-inch rounded ball in a dish or on a cone. Oxo regularly wins design awards for its Good Grips utensils with their familiar black, processed-rubber handles. Oversize, soft, and comfortable, these handles feature grooves on their sides that flex under pressure, conforming to individual finger grips and providing control when handles are wet or slippery. This scoop has a handle hole so you can hang it on a hook or a peg. --Fred Brack

Flimsy trigger
2 Stars
Flimsy trigger
I had high hopes for this, as I have many OXO products that are high quality. But the trigger bent all the way over the first time I used this, on ice cream that was even slightly softened. Very disappointed. I wasn't able to return this through Amazon-- I was prompted to reach out to the vendor. I did this, but never got a response. Very disappointing.Follow up-7/28/20: I did finally hear back from OXO a couple of weeks ago, and they allowed me to pick a replacement item from their website. They had no other ice cream scoops, but I was able to get something else. I appreciated the good customer service, and am still on the hunt for a trigger ice cream scoop!

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst ice cream scoop ever!
Reviewed in the United States on January 8, 2021
My old ice cream scoop (a 15 year-old Oxo functionally identical to this) finally broke so I bought this to replace it. As I scooped out the first scoop of ice cream, the thumb lever bent under normal pressure. It's such thin stamped steel that it's no surprise. Annoying, but not a big deal. I just pressed further up and ejected the scoop onto the plate. On the third scoop, it wouldn't eject. I scraped the ice cream out with another spoon and found the mechanical part had popped free of the shaft, making it non-functional. So, that was it. 3 scoops of ice cream and then it was junk. I fiddled with it after serving the rest of the ice cream with a spoon and got the bail piece back in the shaft. I tried it on the now-very-soft ice cream and it popped out half way through ejecting the scoop.
