The Two Week Stand: A Sizzling Beach Romance Kindle Edition
Dillon Dawson loves to write romance despite her latest relationship ending with her traveling to the Maldives alone on what was supposed to be her honeymoon. Now, the only thing she wants is two weeks of uninterrupted peace and quiet with absolutely no men in sight.
West Oakley doesn’t even believe that romance exists, and he has no desire to convince himself otherwise. The only reason he’s heading to the Maldives is to escape a scandal and spend time on an island where no one knows who he is.
But plans change, and when West takes one look at Dillon, another idea forms in his mind—a no-strings two-week stand. Even though Dillon knows their sexual chemistry is explosive, her romantic heart is torn.
Can she really spend fourteen nights in the arms of a god like West, making all of her fantasies come true, only to walk away at the end of it?
Or can Dillon turn this two-week stand into more than an unexpected holiday fling, convincing West that romance does exist after all?

Samantha Towle is not a new writer to me, I have read and enjoyed her books in the past very much but with so many books on my TBR pile and new books being published every week, I got a bit behind with her books. But for the last few weeks I have been reading a few of her (unread) books and it reminded me again why I love this writer’s stories so much.
This story ‘The two week stand’ is about the British Dillon Dawson and the American West Oakley. Dillon never thought that she would spend her honeymoon on the Maldives alone and as a single woman. But if you find your fiancé cheating on you and the travel agency doesn’t want to refund you your money of your expensive honeymoon. Well, then you just go alone on your honeymoon and hope for the best. But once there Dillon is reminded again why this place is so popular with newlywed couples. Luckily, she’s not the only single there. West is a handsome and interesting guy who is also on his own there. He has his own reasons for choosing this place. From the beginning there is a big attraction between them and when West proposes to have some sexual fun together during their twee week holiday, Dillon accepts his proposition. And that is the start of a holiday where there are more steamy activities happening in the bedroom than outside (although there is that one time….). West and Dillon are having a wonderful time together but West is also keeping a big secret from Dillon and soon their two week holiday will finish. What will happen next? Was it just a holiday fling or was it something more?
I must confess that I had totally forgotten about this story of this writer but I was reminded of it again when I saw some teasers of it on social media and when I read that this story was a bit steamier than the writer’s other books, I got very curious about it. And yes, I can confirm that this story has many sexy and steamy scenes in it. You get both POV’s in the story and I liked that very much.
I loved both main characters Dillon and West very much. Especially Dillon’s British humour and West’s American attitude and honesty. Their banter was entertaining and funny. Dillon was a delightful character, she was kind, very likable, amusing but also a bit insecure (this was caused by her mother’s indifference and her negative comments). West was a great guy too. He was a (American) football player and yes, he was a bit arrogant and very self-assured BUT he was also very honest, helpful and friendly. He just knew what he wanted and he went for it. I really liked his personality. And his secret really took me by surprise, I never saw that one coming. But I loved it! It gave the story a different direction and it certainly explained a lot about West’s thoughts and feelings about relationships and love.
However, there were also a few little things that I liked a bit less in this story. One of them was Dillon’s internal monologues. I have no problems with a character having internal monologues (I like them, it can be very funny and interesting at times) but here, for me personally, it felt sometimes a bit too long and some things were repeated too often.
I also would have preferred a longer story, especially about their time together when they left the Maldives. Because of these two things, I have mixed feelings about the story. There were parts in the book that I loved very much and a few little things that I liked a bit less.
Still, I’m happy that I read this story, it’s a good, funny and steamy story and I was very happy with the ending.
Dillon has travelled from the UK to the Maldives for what was supposed to be her honeymoon. Instead, she’s on her own for the non-refundable holiday after she caught her fiancé in a compromising position two weeks before their wedding. It’s a horrible situation, and though she’s not as devastated as she probably should be, she’s looking forward to drowning herself in alcohol while making plans to move on with her life during her two weeks in paradise.
West is an American who has is in the Maldives for some peace and quiet and to get away from life for a while. His life is stressful, and he’s looking forward to two weeks of soaking up the sun and doing whatever the hell he wants. That plan becomes infinitely more interesting when he’s sitting in the bar on his first night and a very drunk Dillon walks in.
Dillon and West have a very natural chemistry, and even though he’s a perfect gentleman while caring for her drunk ass that first night, once she sobers up in the morning, it’s even more explosive. The sexual tension is sizzling and completely undeniable, and when West proposes that they enjoy each other for a no-strings holiday hookup, there’s no way Dillon can say no.
OMG, I love this relationship! It’s fun, it’s playful, the chemistry is insane, and the sex is freaking HOT! West is upfront and honest about everything he wants with Dillan, which I love. He is gorgeous, confident and infinitely sexy, and he turns out to be a sex-god who likes control and a bit of roughness in the bedroom (and wherever else they do it), and the steamy time is off the charts! But more than just sex, they are together pretty much all the time, and they have such an easy way together. They are open, and they talk, they laugh a lot, and their interactions are flirtatious and full of banter, and I loved every moment with them together.
But Dillon is a romantic at heart. She’s never been in an arrangement like this before, and her growing feelings for West mean it’s going to hurt when it’s time to end her time with him. But he told her straight-up that a short-term fling is all he’s capable of, he’s never had a relationship and he’s not interested in one. But the more they explore each other in their tropical paradise, the closer they become. Will they be able to let go?
This is such a fun read. I laughed and swooned and I loved these two characters so much. They both have some baggage, and while you think you know where the story is going, there’s more to it than just their two weeks, and I couldn’t put this book down as it all played out. There is a bit of drama, which adds a nice amount of emotion and intensity to the story, giving it a lot of heart, and I loved it.
Slow burn level: 37%
Heroine is attending her honeymoon solo after her relationship ended. She's nursing her sorrows after a bad break up and gets wasted.
Hero is trying to lay low due to some bad press back home. He watches drunk heroine and is attracted to her. He watches over her drunk escapades and the next proposes a two-week stand. No relationship kinda guy.
Unfortunately I didn't understand the attraction right away. Hero also kept referring to heroine as different but there really wasn't anything to support that to me.
I wish their back story issues came out a bit more. It just kinda fell flat for both of them.
HEA (no pregnancy)
Trigger Warnings: mention of past drug use (one instance), being cheated on (no cheating in the story)
