Update 12/20/23. The product is tripping a circuit breaker when not in use, just plugged in. This after numerous other problems I have had with it that required repairs. Poorly designed or I got a defective oven.PROS: Stainless steel interior, simple to use, low 13 in. profile that fits under upper cabinets. I love the Convection Roast feature that alternates microwave and convection heating to cook and crisp quickly and efficiently. It also multi-tasks by allowing the timer to run e.g, steeping tea for 3 min., while microwaving oatmeal for 1 min. 30 sec. (my last microwave wouldn’t do that).CONS: The only regret. I have is I should have bought the Cafe model with Auto Roast and Auto Bake features.I spent some time researching convection microwave ovens. I owned a Sharp conventional microwave for over 20 years of reliable service but the paint had worn off the inside where the turn table rolls making the inside look dirty. So I knew a stainless steel interior was a must for my next microwave. I also wanted at least 1000 watts of power for speedy heating. I thought a convection option would be a good idea to brown or crisp soggy microwaved food as a follow-up step.I researched the Emerson, Toshiba, Samsung, Sharp and GE convection microwaves. My wife ruled out the Emerson and Toshiba right away due to aesthetics and they were also on the low end market. The Samsung, Sharp, and GE all fit our criteria EXCEPT for height. The Sharp and the Samsung are 15 in and 16 in high respectively and require additional inches of ventilation space above for cooling. Our upper cabinets are 16 in above the counter. The GE height is 13 in and requires 3 in of ventilation space so it was the only one that would fit our requirements.Reading the one and two star reviews for the GE concerned me however and almost deterred me from buying a convection microwave. But rationally speaking I have to add a few thoughts about the outlying low ratings. One review described problems with the turntable. My turntable operates normally. Other reviews described unusually long convection cook times. I think these reviewers forget this is a 120V counter top oven, not a floor standing, 220V, 40A production range! I use it as intended, for heating and browning leftovers and for modest microwaveable dinners and snacks, not for cooking holiday meals! I could go on but I think you get the point.Although the Profile model has some basic sensor cook and defrost settings, consider the Cafe model if you want to use full Auto roast Auto bake features to take the guesswork out of cook time and reduce exploded, over-microwaved food events!Update: After using this microwave for about a year I would like to add a few more comments.1. If the door open button is pushed too hard, it will stick in the depressed position. It hasn’t happened to me but it has happened to my wife a few times. The button has to be gently pried back out with a flat tool (butter knife works) and having to do this is annoying. We have learned to push it gently and it doesn’t stick anymore.2. The broil and convection heating elements are a bit underpowered, even considering it is a 120v countertop unit. I have used electric fry pans with a broiler element built into the lid and recall it getting red hot on the broil setting. The heating element in this unit faintly begins to glow when set to full hot broil and then cycles cooler.3. One of the wheels on the rotating carousel had a flat spot causing the plate to bump as it rotated. GE replaced it at no charge.I took away a star for these deficiencies.
