    No flash with electronic shutter
    5 Stars
    No flash with electronic shutter
This is the best photography camera ever made, at least until February 2024, when I am writing this review. The dynamic range, details, and color tones are unmatched, as this is the highest sensor DxO Labs has ever tested. However, you need to understand what you are getting into when getting this camera. It is a camera for HDR bracketed landscapes, studio or outdoors natural light portraits, and product photography. That is pretty much it. No sports, no wildlife, no chasing kids around, no weddings. Perhaps some events and some street photography, but only in slow-paced situations and always trying to use a tripod when possible. There's a significant limitation that Hasselblad could easily fix with a firmware update, but I imagine they won't because they would lose significant sales with their own lenses: you can only fire a flash without electronic shutter enabled. Any lens you adapt to this camera will require an electronic shutter because only their XCD lenses and the adapted HC or HCD have a leaf shutter within themselves. And this camera only allows you to use flashes without electronic shutter enabled, which is required for any other adapted lenses. That said, XCD lenses are super expensive, and HC or HCD are not far behind. But if you don't care about flash photography, you will need to use natural or continuous light sources. Nevertheless, if you use a lens without a leaf shutter built-in, you will need to limit your shutter speed; otherwise, you will get banding on your images. If you can deal with these two limitations and with the types of photography mentioned above, you will really enjoy this camera as it is otherwise an excellent machine. The body is a piece of Swedish art: curves, simplicity, style, and perfection.
