    5-Way Optimization

We've loaded the ROG Maximus XI Hero with simple, flexible tools that let you tweak almost every system aspect. Enjoy intelligent automated tuning with 5-Way Optimization technology, or dive deep into the revered ROG UEFI BIOS to take full manual control. Hero also makes short work of fine-tuning everything from audio to storage, so it's easy to get every part of your system up to speed.

    Optimem II

Our OptiMem II tech carefully maps memory signal pathways across different PCB layers to reduce vias and also adds shielding zones that significantly reduce crosstalk. And to further enhance overclocking headroom for fully stacked memory configurations, we've employed a highly customized T-Topology layout that delivers time-aligned signaling.

    Built for overclocking

By default, all of Coffee Lake's major bus frequencies are derived from the same reference clock, limiting the control and flexibility needed to harness the full overclocking potential of the platform. The ROG Maximus XI Hero features a dedicated onboard clock generator that supplies dynamic reference clocks to the CPU cores and major subdomains, giving you the freedom to coax every MHz of headroom from the system.

    Cooler by design

The ROG Maximus XI Hero features the most comprehensive cooling controls ever, configurable via Fan Xpert 4 or the UEFI BIOS. Each header can be set to monitor and react to three user-configurable thermal sensors, for workload based cooling. All easily managed by Fan Xpert 4 or UEFI.

    Personalized for you

With Aura Sync to unleash synchronized effects that extend from motherboard to a vast ecosystem of compatible components, the ROG Maximus XI Hero is primed for endless personalization.

    SupremeFX

Utilizing the S1220 codec, SupremeFX is the integrated-audio solution that's engineered to provide a flat frequency response for a neutral, detailed sound signature. And to ensure that pristine signature is perfectly preserved, the front-panel output is driven with dual op amps, delivering sonics with the scale and authority to create virtual worlds via your gaming headset.

WARNING!!! PCIe x16 Slots did not post on 1st boot. (Fix in Comment)
I bought this Motherboard (ASUS ROG Maximus XI Hero (Wi-Fi) Z390) to replace the MB in my prebuilt PC. Installation went well, moved over my CPU (Intel 8700k) into the New Hero MB. Inserted the board into my case, put on the AIO cooler and connected all the necessary cables. I installed my Nvidia RTX 2060 GPU into the PCIe x16 slot 1. I Booted up the PC and all the RGB, and RGB accessories (GPU/fans/keyboard) turned on, and everything looked good. But after a few seconds there was no display, the Hero MB was showing the boot code A0 (IDE initialization is started) I checked the display cable and everything was plugged in. I turned off the PC, and reseated the GPU but still no display on boot.I tried PCIe x16 slot 2, and yet still no display on boot. Then I tried the onboard HDMI finally getting a display on boot, then went into the Bios. Everything looked good the CPU was fine, temperature was good at 30c, Ram was all detected, SSD and HDD were both detected, and strangely thanks to the Bios function (GPU post)(2nd Picture included) I could see the Gpu was being detected. I then tried an old GPU Nvidia 960ssc in PCIe x16 slot 1, and again no display on boot same with PCIe x16 slot 2. I tried reseating the CPU and loosing the AIO cooler in case it was too tight. Still I got no display on boot from either GPU's. I was running out of ideas of what could be the issue, so I booted into the bios from the onboard HDMI. I started going one by one through the bios settings to see if anything there was the cause. Sure enough I found it (CSM(Compatibility Support Module)) as seen in the picture linked above. This Bios setting came on the Hero MB I received as disabled, essentially stopping all the PCIe slots from working with hardware like my GPU out of the box. I don't know if this is disable by default (Seeming like a bad idea) or this was just the way this one Hero MB came.TLDRCSM(Compatibility Support Module) in the Bios was disabled stopping all PCIe x16 slots from working with my GPU out of the box.Now that it's working after a bit of troubleshooting, it's a good motherboard.

Reviewed in Canada on September 5, 2019
A bit pricey, but it is an excellent board. Not the first time i buy an ASUS ROG, and won't be the last one unless they stop producing it. My previous board was a Maximus V. The only "cons" i could say is about the software tool coming with it. The "Armory Crate" software coming with it is supposed to watch for new drivers versions and suggest newer versions. These drivers are not listed by Microsoft so i would expect to see the new drivers. But i had to go to manufacturer web site to download the latest and i'm 2-3 versions Above the "Latest version" listed in the Armory Crate.
