How To Use The Phoenix

First, carefully hand wash all parts of the purifier before use. Do not expose Bio-Pods to water. Insert the Bio-Pod

cartridge into the Base. Attach Phnx Cap to Base by matching the tabs on the bottom of Cap to the

slots on the top of Base. Twist Cap clockwise and lock it into place. Insert Air Tube into the Base and then firmly

insert the filter into the wine bottle. Tilt the bottle vertically to pour. As you begin pouring, there will be a 3-5 second

delay as wine filters through the Bio-Pod, purifying your wine. Increase the rate of the pour by tilting the bottle

more vertically.

Great way to eliminate sulfites from wine

We purchased this system for our friends who visit and have serious problem with sulfites. Although they were reluctant to try it at first, I convinced them to try it. Amazingly, the Phoenix system really does work as advertised! I know our friends will be purchasing their own so they can enjoy wine with their dinner every night rather than having to purchase only sulfite-free wines. And they get to enjoy wine when they visit us. Great product! I will make sure to keep the refill pods in stock.

First of all everyone should know that this product costs over $10 for ONE bottle of wine! After one bottle of wine, you have to throw it out. And, it didn't do anything to stop the wine drinker from snoring, so it didn't work. The product comes in a pair for $19.99 plus tax, and only included one stem for the two aerators - so, the first box didn't have a stem in it - waste of $10, spilled everywhere. Live and learn!

The problem I had with the unit was it leaked from the base. Not only that but it allowed gas to build up & made my wine shoot all over the wall after I had poured a glass & walked away. Then when I tried to get a second glass, it leaked from the air inlet valve. Seems like it had a bad production build. I appreciate not having my histamine reactions with this unit (second unit poured slow but it works) but seems like it should have a better fit to keep from having issues pouring.

*** Having switched to the second unit, and having more of the same through this device, I am going to say that you are going wait for your wire to be poured. Second, you WILL spill a lot of wine trying to get half a glass. I suspect its because of a poor seal design with the stopper & the air hole to equalize the pressure to have the wine flow is also of bad design.

What I suspect we need for a good filter is some way that we can pour a whole bottle ourselves. Something that maintains a hard seal on the bottle, or use some sort of funnel filter to the wine glass.

I’ve used about 3-4 of these bottle toppers so far (they are single use), and my biggest complaint is that they only work for the first pour. After it sits between pouring glasses, even for a short time, it no longer works. The troubleshooting instructions do not fix anything, and it ends up a big mess; so either pour the whole bottle into a different container at once, or spend the rest of your night fighting it to get more glasses of wine poured from the bottle. Quite frustrating!

Filters out the sulfates well

I’ve tried the Wine Wand & Ullo Filter in addition to trying this. I’m super sensitive to histamines and sulfates so these type of products and how well they work really matter to me.
Pros: Overall it filters out enough sulfates and histamines that I don’t get a wine headache or feel gross the next day with moderate consumption. It’s easy to use. Disposable so you don’t have to clean it.
Cons: For the price you pay it’s pretty expensive to aerate and entire bottle of wine. If you don’t use the filter completely that day, it’s pretty much useless the next day.

If you are just wanting a glass of two of wine and not sharing the bottle with anyone else (plan on drinking it the next day) I would recommend the Wine Wand as it’s by the glass and you don’t waste an entire filter because it’s been 24+ hours. I actually prefer my Ullo Filter to this for cost and ease of use but this works just as well I believe.

I felt great the next day - no headaches and no stuffy nose. Many of the wines I enjoy have screw caps - I learned from other reviews that the Phoenix would be loose if the inside of the bottle was wet - I just dried the first inch of bottle off with a paper towel. It fit fine and works great! I love that it works for an entire bottle of wine.
