Cordoba Mini II M Guitar Review
A Few of Mei's Favorite Things
Product Description
Say hello to the mini II MH — Our popular mini travel-size guitar, but slightly bigger and with an extended 580mm (22 7/8”) scale length so it tunes perfectly to standard E. Despite its small profile, the mini II has a deeper body Depth which creates a well-rounded tone that is close to a full-size nylon string guitar. Built with all-mahogany woods, the mini II MH's unique voice is mellow, soft and balanced.
From the manufacturer
Meet the New Mini II in Mahogany
After many years of success with the original Mini, we are excited to introduce a fresh new take on the travel-size nylon string guitar: The Mini II! The Mini II simplifies impromptu jam sessions thanks to a new scale length that suits Standard E tuning. With a narrow nut width, the neck feels at home for crossover players and beginners. The Mini II is now available in three exciting tone-wood options and while some short-scale instruments sound more “ukulele”, the Mini II’s voice skews guitar - warm and full.

I'm pleased in the craftsmanship designed by Cordoba standards. It sounds just fine for such a small bodied guitar, but not a replacement for full bodied ones. I've had it for a week now, and it needs turning everyday, but as the strings “settle-in” it becomes less and less. The tuners could have been stronger, but on second thought, on such a small neck I really don't know what may have been installed other than what is here.
Bottom line... enjoying “Pickin” Perfect size for an easy chair strum!
I also bought a pint size guitar stand, and I use a PILLOW CASE to fit over as a dust cover. HA!
It won't be leaving the house, so no case will be needed.
There are cheaper guitars of this size out there, but I trust the Cordoba name, and manufacturing!
Thumbs up!
Sadly I’ll have to keep looking for a different travel guitar. I understand the dent from shipping that’s just bad luck. But the quality of the fret edges was consistently bad/sharp. This is on Cordoba. I thought of trying again but have my doubts.
Update - spent a couple hundred more and bought a Little Martin LX1E and am very happy with it. Play on!
Before purchasing the MH version, I ordered the EB-CE version thinking it would sound a little better (solid top), plus I loved the look and the option of plugging it in if I wanted to. The onboard tuner was tempting too. However, once it arrived I was very disappointed. It sounded good but the internal wires were banging all over the place when I would move it and I could even hear them vibrating on some of the low notes. Plus, the onboard tuner kinda sucked. The cheap clip-on tuner that came with my ukelele works way better and faster than that one did. The tone was a bit brighter, but to be honest I think I prefer the warmer tone of the MH. The EB-CE is getting returned and I’m keeping the MH. Couldn’t be happier with it!
The fret edges needed sanding but that was easy enough to do. Expect to tune the guitar often until the strings are fully stretched, which could take 2-3 weeks, depending on how often the guitar is played.
I have a few guitars but I can see this as being my go to because it’s so comfortably easy to play. Perfect for anytime you want to play.
I would have given this review 5 stars but couldn’t because the frets needed sanding.
