    4 Stars
Extensive Rocketbook review: More work erasing pages, buy 2, I explain in review,
Ok, I like the Rocketbook a lot. I used it for a three day virtual event, taking extensive notes, and ran out of pages. (I believe there’s about 36 pages in the one I purchased.) The black friXion pen that came with it, barely lasted a week. Also, I use the gray cloth that came with it, but it became so wet after erasing 26 pages and I used a very soft, new, white T-shirt to dry the pages, so I wouldn’t damage them. Rocket book recommends you do not use the eraser on the page to erase your notes. Rocketbook also mentions that if you have to use the eraser, it’s OK, but erase lightly so that the surface coating of each page is not damaged. I found out that it’s easy to use the eraser to correct one or two characters while you’re taking notes . But, it’s preferred that you use water, lightly misted onto the pages.=>Now my reason for telling you to buy two Rocketbooks, (and I am), is because when you are taking a great amount of notes and you run out of available pages in the one Rocketbook, you can change to a brand new Rocketbook and continue. Then, when you have time, after you have forwarded the documents to your online destinations, you can erase the first one, and dry and each page carefully and it will be ready to go if you need to continue taking notes after the second Rocketbook is filled up.=>Further note, I bought a package of friXion pens in all colors. The blue seems to be the best color IMHO, and the red is very usable to accent the pages.=>All in all, it’s a good start and I put a bath-towel on the bed and lay the Rocketbook on that opened up. Lightly dampen the page with a misting sprayer, and wipe from the center spine OUTWARD to the edge of the page. Be careful on getting any spray near the spine because it bleeds through to the next page and sometimes it’s hard to get them dry because it keeps “wicking” onto the pages next to it. When you are done drying the Rocketbook, go back and re-dry every page, paying special attention to the center spine where the water or moisture may remain. BTW, I Purchased this in January 2021 and it is now February 21, 2021. Oh, Rocketbook Recommends letting the ink dry on the page at least 15 seconds before you turn the page that you just wrote on. I sometimes forgot and didn’t observe this, and think it needs a little more time, and under 15 seconds, it smudged both pages. =>Also, you might not notice, but there are little symbols/icons at the bottom of every page that are tied to your destinations that you set up in “destinations” area in the app. These icons, that are very faint, are documented inside the front cover of the Rocketbook and those can assign those to be whatever you want set up. For instance, I set up the diamond to be iCloud. I would recommend not writing closely up at the top edge or the bottom edge or the left or right edge of each page, especially the bottom, because you might “trigger” an automatic function by accidentally getting ink on one of these very faint icons at the bottom of the page.=>Also, I deleted every major scan in between beginning a new scan because there was some confusion, sometimes, on what I intended. That’s about all the personal experience I can pass on to anyone that purchases this or is considering purchasing this item. I hope this review saves you time and helps you make a great decision. =>Additional Rhoda meeting notebook comparison thoughts and note: I used to buy a lot of Rhoda meeting books adding up to a lot of money being spent every year. I know I could scan those notebooks, and sometimes did, but it was always very hard being disciplined to do that and many times I felt myself going through the paper pages of the Rhodia meeting books to find a note that was critical to a project. I will still definitely buy Rhodia meeting books (they are excellent) for specific subjects that I want to keep in a written format.=> But, I’m very glad I found the Rocketbook. I also purchased some beacons for the whiteboard and those worked as advertised. My best advice is to use the Rocketbook on some non-critical note taking before committing to a critical project. I also have other ways of taking notes with an Apple Pencil and whiteboard etc., but this Rocketbook is as close to native writing that I can get. Make sure you have spare friXion pens, because you should not use other pens on the surface of the pages.

One of the current trends is going analog again without sacrificing mobility, like writing in a bullet journal or drawing, then digitizing PDFs for search. The Rocketbook system boasts ecological value since pages can be erased by water and a wipe, and materials are recyclable. BIC bought the company in 2020. The recommended FriXion gel pens are relatively inexpensive. The ink takes 15-20 seconds to dry. Heat is supposed to make the content transparent so it would need to be cooled to restore contrast. The plastic pages are made durable enough to last quite a while. By default, they are blank, lined, or dotted. A QR code orients a corner. The app runs on a phone, inputs via the camera, and interprets text or smart tags. A file is then emailed or sent to a destination like Dropbox. So far, I have used the core A5 exec size with 36 pages on a vertical side spiral binding as a bullet journal. Also, the Flip A4 letter size has 32 pages top bound as a sketchbook. The index cards serve as scratchpads for notes or palettes. I have used various Pilot pens, covered and click, black & blue, or colored inks. You can upload and check off sheets anytime but do not have to clear them until your book fills. You can also get large, preprinted planners or smaller mini pads. People also use them for common logs, numerics, or graphics. The website has additional templates to print on paper. These also appealed to drawing in pen and ink. If you have ever seen artist videos, e. g. from urban sites or stock photos. Make effects like smearing, smudging, crosshatching, rewetting, and use a finger or Q-tip for smoothing or mixing. And harken to pastels or watercolors. Beats winter doldrums. Eventually, you can try markers, highlighters, brushes, and stamps. Gelly metallic, sparkle, white, or water pens for effects. Stick strips on pages for maps, diagrams, icons, or destinations. In short, these are easy to use and become second nature so you quickly want them around.

This product has been a game-changer for me. I find myself journaling or taking notes on a daily basis, but it gets so difficult to keep up with multiple notebooks or even find what I'm looking for in those notebooks. I enjoy actually writing notes as opposed to typing, so I began weighing the cost of getting a new iPad, a Remarkable2 tablet, or the Rocketbook notebook. In the end, I decided to go with the Rocketbook based upon a much cheaper price tag (I knew I could buy one of the other options later if I ended up not liking the Rocketbook) and the ability to actually write out physical notes that would then be digitized and sent to whatever platform I wanted, which for me includes Evernote, Slack, e-mail accounts, Google Drive, and Microsoft OneDrive. I was able to preset each of those destinations on the app (it gives you up to 7 presets) and then it will automatically send to whichever I have indicated on the notebook page.

I love using the Rocketbook. It is a highly functional and efficient notebook, and I've been recommending it to anyone and everyone. This is one of those products that I find super satisfying to use and does everything I want and need. I got the executive size as it is closer in size to the rest of the books I might be carrying at a given moment, and I've been pleased with that. It is thinner than most notebooks, but I find that I only have to clean it out every 2 to 3 weeks, depending on how much I've used it. It does take maybe 5-10 minutes for me to clean it how I want it, but that's really not bad at all, especially when I consider how quickly my handwritten notes are digitized and sent where I need them.

A few things to consider: The paper does have a glossy finish, and using erasable pens is required, so it's not 100% like writing on regular paper, but it was not that big of an adjustment. It takes a few seconds for the ink to dry, but that also hasn't been too big of an issue. I just wait 10 seconds or so before turning the page. While the ink comes straight off with a wet microfiber cloth, I did notice that I've left a few indentations on the icons at the bottom that indicate where to send the note. I think I must have pressed a little hard when hurriedly marking them, so I've tried to be more mindful of that. The cover on my notebook has slightly warped (I think from the Phoenix heat), so it doesn't lay completely flat; however, even this is only slight and doesn't impact any functionality.

Overall, I'd say buy, buy, buy. I've filled and erased it many times already, and I still make a big thing every time about how much I like it. When my wife sees me with the microfiber cloth and notebook, she knows she's about to hear--yet again--how much I'm enjoying my Rocketbook.

5.0 out of 5 stars Where has this been been my entire life

What a convenient environmentally reusable book! This book lives it up to its description. So easy to use I am not a techy person and this book took me minutes to figure out. The pages are great quality and very durable. It does feel like I’m writing in my notebook. I do wish the pages were lined instead of doted, I know I could have purchased the model with the lines however that book had calendars etc in them and I really didn’t have a need for that. I have been using my book for roughly a week, uploading the data daily. It doesn’t translate my handwriting 100% but I have terrible handwriting. I am learning to print more. When cleaning the pages I do find that I have to wipe them twice with the cloth in order to thoroughly clean away all ink As well the pen supplied is not fine enough in my opinion so I have gone ahead and purchased a superfine .05 pen to use instead. So much lighter to carry around and so so easy to use

If you are questioning buying one and take a lot of notes - go for it but order the super fine pen as well My handwriting is typically rather large and with the fine .07 pen supplied the pages fill up rather quickly.

    Excellent purchase!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastica, molto comoda per prendere appunti e renderli smart!
Reviewed in Italy on March 31, 2024

5.0 out of 5 stars Genius idea and really easy to use

I saw Rocketbooks a while ago, but felt they were quite overpriced, but as I kept coming back to look every couple of weeks I decided to just go ahead and get one.
Unfortunately, the one I chose wasn't ideal - I found a cheap one on Amazon, but hadn't realised it was dotted rather than lined - no bother. I'll get to test them out and see how I like the idea of easily uploading scans and if I love them enough I may decide to get a lined one later (or I may find that the dotted is sufficient).
Personally, I think it would've been better to have had half lined/half dotted (I don't know if they make a mixed book) but 18 pages is more than enough for what I have planned.
I'd already set the app up in anticipation of the book arriving... selecting to have my work email, my home email (both set with OCR transcribing) and then my iCloud and One Drive destinations ready to go (leaving me with 3 further options to send to later).
Once the book arrived I removed the Frixion Pen, the cleaning cloth and the book and wrote a test page.
The pen doesn't write as "nicely" as it would on paper. The smooth coating of the Rocketbook pages will take a little getting used to, and I wasn't hugely impressed with the Frixion pen at first, but I imagine that will come with time.
I'd read that by writing a title enclosed with a double # ( eg ## Title Name ##) automatically named your note, so you didn't have to rename the file once it was generated, so figured I would get into the habit of that straight away.
So, once I had something written down, and I'd popped a cross on my preferred destination icon at the bottom I scanned it... and WOW!!!
The whole thing was so smooth and natural and painless that I was immediately taken with this notepad.
It was kind of what I expected, but even smoother and easy to use.
My handwritten note arrived in my email box, with a transcribed copy embedded into the email (so I have the option of just copy/paste it as needed, rather than subject anyone to my shoddy handwriting).
Any shortcomings with the smoothness of the paper and the pen itself will be long forgotten.
I had expected that drywipe pens would work, but a quick search online indicates that they do not.
Wiping the Frixion ink with a dab of water cleans it nicely, but apparently the surface of the page can be destroyed by harsher things, such as rubbing alcohol, and a dry wipe marker apparently doesn't just dry wipe (although I may try this myself later).
For now, I'm just going to stick to my notepad and enjoy using it the proper way.
Highly recommended for anyone who takes a lot of notes and needs a very easy way to send them to a cloud destination.
